Jealousy is a Poison

Jealousy is a Poison

It is the power of thought that can create many problems in this world. Focus on the negative and you will be rewarded with unhappiness. Focus your thoughts on the positive and you will reap the benefits. Life is a rich tapestry of achievements and failures. Jealousy can be an emotion towards total destruction. Forget the jealousy and live the moment with sheer excitement and anticipation of all the wonderful things that are about to unfold.

Jealousy is a Poison

Jealousy is a poison
It eats your heart away
Look for love elsewhere my friend
Our love is here to stay

Jealousy is a poison
It rarely goes away
You focus on it daily
And so it's here to stay

Jealousy is a poison
So change those inner thoughts
Focus on someone else to love
You really know you ought

Jealousy is a poison
It hurts you through and through
Now it's time to create my friend
A bachelor for you

Jealousy is a poison
You don't really know this man
His words and actions
You'll rarely understand

Jealousy is a poison
He needs his wife once more
They are bonded together
For now and evermore

First off let me say cute pictures you posted here. And YES JEALOUSY is a poison and I suffered through it for almost 18 years with my ex. She was jealous as in like fatal attraction. I couldn't look at let enough talk to another woman without her fighting with me over it. So stay away from JEALOUS men they are as bad as CHEATERS you talked about in your previous hub. Jealousy definitely can be a POISONNNNNNNNN. great poem I liked it. Rated UP.

Being jealous of someone or something they have and you want is so bad.It can only turn out in disaster. No one wants to be controlled and certain things don't belong to you even if you think they should.Be careful of those jealous people.Great poem.

My partner says that Jealousy is somehow connected to insecurity. I don't fully understand how, but she knows a lot about stuff, so I trust her judgment. I have felt jealousy towards an ex that I was very connected to. My jealousy damaged the relationship a lot. I was young and afraid of losing the person. It is a very real feeling. It is amazing how it can just take over. I even felt betrayal, but in the end, it was all down to me, not my ex. I learned a hard lesson from jealousy. This is a great hub.

Website Examiner 6 years ago

Upon reflection, I think that one of the reasons that jealosy is tough to suppress is that it is the natural reaction. Take someone's fresh sandwich out of his hand and pass it on to a stranger, he is likely to have an instinctive feeling of envy and anger. How different is then jealosy, if viewed from a "caveman's perspective"? Could it not be a basic territorial instinct? If so, overcoming it requires much will power, since our prime instincts may well be stronger than our intellect, which after all is only centuries old.

acaetnna profile image

acaetnna 6 years ago from Guildford Author

What a great viewpoint Website Examiner, thank you for sharing this. True I am sure that prime instincts are stronger than our intellect. It is very difficult to control our emotions, they can take over the whole body. So yes to control jealousy is very difficult and something that really needs to be worked at to overcome.

Jealousy is a poison.

And envy is a sin.

Jealousy will stunt your growth,

And make you sick within.

Play the hand that you are dealt.

Be glad with who you are.

Be thankful for what you have.

Don't wish for another's star.

For the cards will be re-shuffled.

The first shall be the last.

Be happy with your role,

And how the roles are cast.

Enjoy the success of others,

Be true and brave and bold,

And it will be hard to fill your shoes,

For when your story's told.

The bible describes the quality of jealousy as being "rotteness to the bones" because it eats away at any concern or well being for that person but the intense contempt continues to grow...that is if we don't do everything it takes within us to get the mastery over it. I grew in a house full of women as a woman, in the work place the majority of people are made of us which is so unfortunate in the sense that we are the worst at controlling our emotions and moods. Sigh this poem is dead on -smile. Very well written depiction.
