Julia and the Devil

Julia and the Devil
Had a big deal to settle
As the satellites glow
And the darkness shines
She knows she might risk
Losing her life
Julia crosses the draw bridge
Bringing her closer
To the edge of the ridge
She is given the sight
But sacrificing her mind
She draws a fine line
Between wrong and right
Evil is surfacing on the high seas
The sky is filled with demons and greed
But Julia drops to her knees
As she wishes it all away
Please set me free

Julia went to confession
It was all part of her obsession
Seducing the priest
As the sun sinks in the East
She says I am a woman
Now make me bleed
Julia plays at recess
Teachers see the bloodstains
All over her dress
Julia says
That's all right because
Now I'm divine
She made a big deal
With the Lord of Lies
Evil is surfacing on the high seas
The sky is filled with demons and greed
But Julia screams at the stars
Please set me free

Julia went to Hell
And came back
With so many stories to tell
Now she knows that
She is the dark mother
She says
Won't you take my hand now brother
Julia found the exit
A sure way that she could
End it all
As the satellites glow
And the darkness shines
The heavens shall fall
And her kingdom shall rise
Evil is surfacing on the high seas
The sky is filled with demons and greed
But Julia drops to her knees
And she begs of the Gods
Set me free

Poetic Notes and History on by Blake4d

This is an older piece of mine, it was more of a mantra. It was during a phase that I was exploring the parallels of good and evil and how dichotomy works within my writing. Julia is not a real person, but someone who we might imagine was real. I imagined that she was someone torn to the choice of evil to survive from a very young age. And then she was adept at it. Making it hard to stop. Personally I have always like the Zoroastrian outlook on evil.

"The ancient Persian religion Zoroastrianism explains the presence of evil by asserting that there are two coequal gods, one being light and the other darkness. They are both considered eternal. The creation account clearly rules this possibility out. The one God created all things. Evil came from within this creation but was not coexistent with the Creator." - Paul J. Bucknell

Although I also disagree. I think that evil and good are probably illusionary creations of the mind of humans at a certain level. Therefore they lack the ability to describe what we feel as we experience what we call evil. So essentially my little poem is about a person that she is ill prepared to face these concepts when confronted with something that she knows is wrong. It is a complex story that I once thought of putting into a more play or short story type form . I also used to be a kind of folk song. LOL
