Silly Funny Sunday Poem

Ode to the Apple

Oh my goodness

Oh my gosh

Golly gee McIntosh

High in fiber

Free of fat

No cholesterol

And that’s a fact

Pickled Peppers
Pickled Peppers | Source

Peter's Pickled Peppers

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers

But did Peter Piper who picked these peppers

Know that he could also

Pick a peck of Purple peppers

I would like to know how did Peter Piper pick

A Peck of pickled peppers

Purple Potato

Purple Potatoes

Purple potatoes protruding proudly

Providing pure potassium & protection

Oh Dear Lilies

Lilies of the Valley

Have started to erupt

Pretty to look at

But they do grow a muck

Must make a note to thin them out

Next time while I’m gardening

Out and about

I am trying something that I have wanted to do for a long time now. All of the following are Beatles songs. You can do this with any bands songs, I just happened to pick The Beatles. The Rolling Stones or Van Morrison would be fun to do this with too. I have not finished with this one yet but just wanted to ask you guys what you thought of this. Am I loosing it or just at a loss for something to write about. I had to add a few words, which are in italics.

If I Needed Someone

Paperback Writer

There’s A Place

That Means A Lot

to

The Fool On The Hill

Take

The Long and Winding Road

Be sure to

Twist And Shout

Because

I’m Happy Just To Dance With You

I've Got A Feeling

You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me

I know

It's Only Love

That Means A Lot

I Feel Fine

but

Tell Me Why

Till There Was You

I Should Have Known Better

past

Words Of Love

before

Yesterday

meant nothing

Thanks for coming back to let me know. Great Poem!

I did find the poem; it's on here with the title of "forced poem," because that's what it was--an assignment. LOL

Dzy, Sorry to read that McIntosh apples are hard to find in California. When I lived there I can't remember if I ever saw them or not. But then again that was 39 years ago :)

If you remember where you have that poem published or if you do end up publishing it here can you come back and let me know as I'd love to read it.

Very clever! I love McIntosh apples, but they are hard to find around here!

The Peter Piper one is also very clever. You raise an interesting point--how DO you pick (already pickled) peppers???

You did a great job with the alliteration on the purple potatoes!

The song titles poem reminds me of an assignment we had in creative writing class--we were given scraps of paper that had been snipped from magazines--only fractions of sentences. We each had to pick several, and from them create a poem. As you did, we could add joining words or phrases, change tenses, but not delete any words or change the sequence of the words on the snippets. It was tough. I"m not sure if I have it published here--I don't even remember the title I gave it. LOL

Voted up, interesting and funny.

Ha Ha - I am having a brain freeze type moment so I am going around and reading some stuff I may haven't seen yet... maybe it will give me inspiration. It did give me inspiration - to have an apple. Unfortunatley - we are fresh out - used the last one yesterday :)

On second thoughts the 400 liner was a different poem, but it still had to be quite long.

aslanlight profile image

aslanlight 5 years ago from England

I think excercises like these really improve our writing.

I once won a contest in which I had to write a 400 line poem with the letter a as the first letter in every word! Not many people entered needless to say. Lol Was I insane!

Just Ask Susan profile image

Just Ask Susan 5 years ago from Ontario, Canada Author

aslanlight thanks so much. One time I started to try and do an entire story from song titles and I wish I had kept it. It was fun and I think I just may do another :)

aslanlight profile image

aslanlight 5 years ago from England

A delightful and entertaining hub! I've done that with the song titles in a contest in a large poetry site, and it's fun. :)

I don't think you lost it at all. I'm pretty sure that's my department. You usually find "it". I love the alliteration (pretty perfect purple pepper's pictures as well) and what fun with songs!

I remember doing that when I was young enough to remember song titles!

Fun hub, Susan!!

You deserve it Susan - I always scour your hubs - I feel pretty new still so knowing your background as a writer I use yours and a couple of other hub erstwhile for personal learning examples. I should pay you:)!

I have noted how you have nice tight and neat paragraphs, perfect punctuation and spelling, great photos or music. It also seems that you separate your ideas with dashes (as above) bold print or italics. It helps to clarify and punctuate your info I think:) I wish I could get a test on your material - I would get an A+!

Where can I find purple peppers? We love Italian sausage and pepper sandwiches, and purple would be a great color addition.
