Just Stopping By

The family grows smaller....

Home for a visit.
Home for a visit. | Source

Mom,

Sister,

And I

Old topics,

New thoughts,

Mingle.

Dad gone

On before,

Still a presence.

Living

On

With us.

The fire

Glows

Lower.

The evening

Closes in

On all.

  • A Haiku - Cherry Buds

By the ending days of winter all of nature yearns for spring.

  • A Haiku: It's November

November: the month when "The war to end all wars" ended; yet wars go on. November: the month when America's elections end, and governments go on.

  • A Haiku - Leadership
    20

What defines a true leader? It isn't just charisma and sensing their power. It isn't just making us afraid so we are mobilized. It's being true, honest, fair, up front, and out front. This Haiku examines leadership.

That is right. Nothing can be new apart from the thought.

Great

After a week with Mom and my sister at the beach in Maine, it seemed a good summary of our visiting.

So much said in so few words, beautifully.

Indeed it does. The lord giveth and he will damn sure take away.

Amy and Barnsey: wish you were both there, too. The water was warm, shore breezes, and great lobster (3.00 to 3.75 per pound!) and clams (5.00/lb.). You would have loved it, and the visiting.

A fascinating vignette of your holiday together.

And the best part? Mom will be 104 on 10/4 and could fully enjoy the visit.

Beautiful Perspy! Short and oh, so sweet! Time never diminishes the pain of losing our loved ones - it only makes it easier to remember them with smiles instead of tears! Your mom rocks!

Mom rocks, alright! Mary, my sister, rocks as a steady helper for our Mom, too. The week was spent at Mary's beach cottage, but normally they still live in Mom's 1830s home with five fireplaces, one of which is a cooking fireplace with its own warmer oven. What a joy, to be almost 104 and still living in your own home!

Love is the Super Glue(R) of families and includes a lot of appreciation for the loving acts of others in and outside the family.

Voted up and beautiful. Family is special. Can tell you're brother and sister and your mom looks great. God has blessed her with a long life. You can't see him but I know your dad was there also. Thanks for sharing. God bless.

Gypsy Rose Lee I just came back to this one and its good memories. Writing does that, doesn't it! Mom is still doing fine and a joy to Maay and me. That's the nice part of "the other side of the veil": I think you can peek in around the family. The hard part? You have to let things work their way out, influencing only what you can.

i'm happy to see your mother still living...how old is she?

raciniwa - Mom passed away in March 2014. She was humming the hymn "Softly And Tenderly Jesus Is Calling" the next line of which is "Calling oh sinner come home." She was almost 105 and a half.
