This is what we long to see
Sitting underneath the trees
Monkeys swinging in the breeze
Singing songs with chimpanzees

One tree was average as trees go but it was still growing
Like her dreams she was shaking them making them up as time
Showed her new things and wondrous true things to her
It was all just something unknown and yet it she felt to her toes

Maybe its just once from your car you call out into the stars
Maybe its just too damn hard knowing but not knowing so
Swinging wild between the trees
Monkeys swinging in the breeze...K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Another tree was small at first not because it wasn't growing
But her dreams were much further down road she had taken to
Follow them but still even the smallest of them was hers
And that's all that she'd ever really had known but she was alone

Maybe its just cold out there and growing up is going too slow
Maybe its one two three little too late but it is time to go home
Twirling wild between the trees
Singing songs with chimpanzees...K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Under both trees she was kissing me with the wind blowing
Still the dreams that she had were just frustrating her minds eye
All of her days she spent learning to speak to trees but her
Words never seemed to be enough to reach up to the afterglow

Maybe its just ice on the windows but then its closing the roads
Maybe its just the trees making dreams manifest as they unfold
Primitive gentle as lovers in the leaves
Like monkeys swinging from the trees...K-I-S-S-I-N-G

This is what we wish to see
Kissing underneath the trees
Monkeys swinging in the breeze
Singing songs with chimpanzees

Poetic Notes and History on by Blake4d

This is a reworking of an older poem, originally titled Kim's Tree. As sometimes happens, you write something for someone and then you part ways. This person would rather not be in their friends memories and not part of their pasts, so out of respect I rewrote this part of my poetic discourses. I like how this poem has a lofty but innocent appeal about it. Also the person pictured in the photograph above is my friend Joe Lee, and yes he is blowing a ball of fire into the air. He did this for a living for a few years with a traveling circus of sorts. He was a fire eater among other things in life. He too had a wish to go his own direction and cut ties with his past, so I thought it appropriate to have him in the photo that accompanies this poem. As a testament to how life imitates art and then art imitates life over and over again. Synchronization is as real as it is not real, reality works somewhat the same way. I believe this at least, so that is my best explanation of this piece. Have fun reading it, thank you to the fans, judges, admins and everyone. And a big thank you to Kim S. and Joey Lee for their inspirational contributions to this piece, love is the law.
