LANTERN KITTY

Black Iron~

Full of holes~

Lantern kitty~

Never lit~

Never a candle to hold.

In winter you sit on the steps~

Freezing frosty ice makes your bed.

While snow covers you pearled in white~

You wait for the time you might be gleaming with light.

In spring you’re moved for the broom~

Placed in a special spot.

With anticipated hoping for the some-day wick lighted bright.

In summer you’re washed clean with suds~

Knowing now you are at least still loved.

In fall you prepare for your wait of cold~

Wondering now if there is still time for your holder to be ignited and bold.

Yet again~

In winter you sit on the steps~

Freezing frosty ice makes your bed.

While snow covers you pearled in white~

You wait for the time you might be gleaming with light.

Another Year goes by~

While you and your owner wish for the time~

That joy will come and you will be nourished for all~

To see as a worthy object of wondered might.

Black Iron~

Full of holes~

Lantern kitty~

Never lit~

Never a candle to hold.

If I had it, I would love it and light it. Nice work, and it shows the years go on...
