LAURA'S DREAM: Moon's Dark Side
By: Wayne Brown
(Writer's Note: I wrote this poem as a tribute to the dreams of Ms. Laura Summerville Reed, a fantastic poet in her own right, who writes verses that flow like melted butter over hot biscuits. She has commented many times that she would love to go to the Moon so this was my way of giving her the trip. I hope she likes it! WB)
Some think it lonely on the dark side of the Moon
Think not of lonely, just lunar seclusion
The powdered scape looms large in my mind
I see just the lovely place, just the very spot
Where I will sit and gaze from my lounge chair
The stars pepper the Universe all in plain sight
From my lounger this world is my dream
I share with only those somewhere out there
And those I choose to have right here
Gazing up next to me in my lounge chair
Serenity is mine on the dark side of the Moon
Stars my domain; The Universe my home
The beauty overwhelms the solitude
The shooting stars streak across night’s heaven
And I watch each one here from my lounge chair
Time stands still on this shadowy side of the Moon
No hustle, no bustle, no interruptions now
I have time to soak it all in, to wish upon a star
At times, I see Angels playing in the Milky Way
A thrilling sight from here in my lounge chair
Up here in my chair on the dark side of the Moon
The Universe I own, totally mine alone
I know each star by name and place, every twinkle
Marvel at the glow, gone by day, here by night
I wait impatiently for it here in my lounge chair
Such an amazing dream on the dark side of the Moon
A light show of wonder and joyous delight
The Dippers, Orion, constellations abound the night
The artistry and beauty of each one is mine
As I watch here in dreamy awe from my lounge chair
My dreams come true
On the dark-side of the Moon
