LOVE LETTERS FROM MY HEART

LVII.

Be still, my heart,
And you will know.

LOVE LETTERS - DIANA KRALL

We'll fly

Through the sky

Become

The one

We are.

Winged stallion,

Swift gazelle,

Without a net.

We'll spin

Crystal webs

For caterpillars.

We'll find

The star we owned

From when we first

Began.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

Each moment

With you

Surpasses

Its predecessor,

My beloved.

Even if

Everything else

Were right,

Without you,

What is it?

Now and always,

Dreary days

Are

Left behind

For good.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

When you come into

My door,

You fill my room

With moonlight,

With magic

Music

And merry mystery.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

This full response

Unsought,

Accepted

Is in and of itself, alone -

Not part

Of something else.

Had you not occurred, arisen,

There could have been no substitute

And missing it

Would still remain

This wholly private ache

And so I'm scared,

I'm unprepared

For further definition

In the larger realm.

Soul Mates

There will be
No new encounters
For us.
For if we chance
To meet again,
We'll touch,
And then -
Our hearts will beat again,
As souls repeat again
Our recognition.
Time will cease,
As universe
Becomes
Complete, -
Again.

A tribute - to 1945 film, "Love Letters"

I was a young teenager when I saw this film, but, even so, it impressed itself on me. What I've only just learned as I researched the movie today is that the screenplay was written by none other than Ayn Rand! Of course the cast members, with Jennifer Jones, at her ethereal best, and Joseph Cotton,as the writer of the letters for a friend, in the mode of Cyrano de Bergerac, were magnificent. This film belongs in the classic film realm with "Casablanca", in my opinion.

Having read your hub, I view your comment as very flattering, my friend! I think I understand it better, anyway - and I agree. And when it comes to love, it need not be objective reality in order to be real. That may be a clue to what real truth is about? Thank you very much, Menalist!!

Lovely Nellieanna, especially the videos. "Love Letters" is a film I have never seen. I will have to watch out for it.

Thanks for a really beautiful Hub.

There is so much longing and sadness in all of this. How perfectly it all complements every other part. Another era, Nellie, another time.

Christopher - Thank you. Perhaps the movie is more available over there. Here, it's quite difficult. I see there is a VCR version for $62 on Amazon.com but I'm not quite ready to invest in a tape. However, I see that on u-tube, the entire movie can be seen in segments. I intend to watch it that way and hope to find a better option. I'd love to have it in my collection. I've spent Mother's Day pigging out on wonderful movies!

Yes, it is another era, Ian. I'm not regretting the losses of the past, though. I'm very much in the present and memory is part of it, and it is well. I am feeling many poignant memories. Seems that all kinds of things take me to them.

I just saw "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing", one of George's favorite movies and songs. It was set in China in the era in which he had been there at the end of WWII and involves a love between an American correspondent and a Eurasian lady doctor. It's very touching and lovely and it brings tears to my eyes, both on its own merit and because he loved it so. But these are good memories and present thoughts and feelings. This is part of living and having lived. Thank you, dear friend. I appreciate your kindness and caring.

Nellie, then you must watch 'Indochine', starring Catherine Deneuve and Vincent Perez. It is a stunning and heart-wrenching movie. I won't tell you any more, but I think you trust my choice or taste in movies.

I had it recommended to me by a French friend of mine years ago. He said it was his favourite film and I didn't find it till last year; I am sad that it took so long for me to get around to it.

I can see a different Nellie, behind these poems... a different Nellie, but a Nellie, shining nonetheless

Ian - I shall look for that movie. I've always admired Catherine Deneuve and look forward to 'meeting' Vincent Perez. It sounds enchanting. Too bad George can't see it too. Yes, I do trust your taste in movies. I watch "A Room With A View" frequently. It always pleases me.

Of course, it's the same 'me' in these poems, some of them written years ago, some much more recently. I may be a private person, but I am a whole person who happens to be a fully functioning woman. :-)

Amy - hehe - Yeah, I guess that's about it. Love really is both, isn't it? Sometimes it's raw and rugged, sometimes it's airborne and tender. I must admit I pity those who know of only one or the other part of it. Thank you for those lovely words. :-)

Dear Gypsy Willow - your simple comment says so much. Thank you! I don't see enough of you! Hugs!

Nellieanna profile image

Attemptedhumour - well, it's understandable that you wouldn't have seen those movies. First of all - they were big news before your time! Then they are both American movies, as well as, - in ways - "chick flicks", though each has much appeal to both genders if they get a chance to see them. They're not mushy stuff, the stories are gripping, rather than ordinary and the acting is excellent. Each of them had gorgeous musical themes, and along with the films, have become real classics. No doubt they each contributed to the "baby boom" following WWII. hehe. Amazing how those old movies portray human love without being graphic.

They do, as you say, tell about living which was "full to the brim". That's always a personal choice, no matter what is or isn't the current style. The fact that you say the days are still good for you shows that you choose them to be! Good for you! Thank you for the visit and kind comments!

Shanaya - thank you, my friend. George told me about the moment he realized he loved me. He said he was on the highway going to a inspect a building plant, and thought, "I love her!" Wasn't that wonderful of him to tell me? It had grown over several months of friendship and confidences.

My dear fellow scribe Nellieanna, you draw me from my cave and heal the wounds I lick for want of a better word. The sun shines brightly from your corner of the world into these tired eyes. You filled my cup with joy, you stirred the coals in my hearth and brought warmth to my soul with your LOVELY verse.

I have resurfaced once more and placed the quill to ink my thoughts and come back to your site for peace and refreshment. You light up this poets heart with your magic, I thank you for stirring me so and jabbing at my mind to not give up the race and write, write, write. Thank you, I applaud you. I missed you.

My dear Ken. . . I hope you're out 'from your cave' happily. You're missed when you're away. I hardly know what to say except that I'm very pleased if my words cheered you and brightened your corner of the world. Of course, mine must be lit by perspective, too, and you can have it for yourself, my dear friend. Giving up is not a valid option. I can't wait to see what you're writing.

Where have you been, woman? It's like waiting around for Haley's Comet, or a number 42 bus.

First there's nothing, and then they come in droves. But I haven't experienced any droves for ages.

Nellieanna profile image

My most dear Ian! I've been wondering the same thing about YOU!! I've been here - just not quite as much. Between computer problem, tornado warnings, power outage, loss of a complete hub and hub and poetry chores, I have just been a bit subdued. Thank you for asking! I published a new hub and am working on restoring the lost one. But I'd never want to neglect YOU! I may or may not be able to deliver on droves, but it's not atypical! Hugs, sweetie.

Welcome back to the land of the living. It's just like being in Gethsemane!

Oh Dear. I'm going have to battle it out with a crowd of Born Agains, I suppose.

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 5 years ago from TEXAS Author

THANK YOU FOR THE WARM WELCOME. I doubt there will be too large a crowd at Gethsemane, though. . . Never has been.

By the way - I just got the missing hub restored, more or less. Maybe better, who knows? The new title is AWARENESS: FINE-TUNING. It had been NOTICING: FINE-TUNING, (I think, but all traces were gone.) Now - to resume working on a new hub I'd been onto.

I love "merry mystery." If only that part stayed. Another beautiful crafting Nellieanna.

Ian - I will definitely read it and look forward to it. I adore Sunnie and I have a strong kinship with a Victrola - and its era - the era of my youth.

Nellieanna profile image

Patricia - Oh, I'm so pleased to see you! Yes - the merry mystery is fun. As for staying, probably if it were a fixity, it would be neither so merry nor so mysterious, would it? We miss much by expecting things to be constant, perhaps - especially "peak experiences". And - both parties do contribute to keep good things touching down more often. That's fun, too! Thank you so much for the lovely visit and comments!
