Love's Doubtful Questions
By: Wayne Brown
What makes you think you’re right this time?
Why do you think you know?
You just might be a sucker for some old line
You might be catching on too slow
What makes you think you can do all that?
Why do you think you can?
You might just be one more fooled cat
Or an ostrich with its head in the sand
What causes you to act all angry and uptight?
Why do you have to shout?
You just might come in here some night
Only to have your ass thrown back out
What is on your mind when you say nothing at all?
Why do you clam up your verbiage?
You need to speak out and let the words fall
If you really have the courage
What sticks in your throat when loves comes around?
Why can’t you speak out the word?
You just cannot seem to speak that love sound
The words that long to be heard
What say you of true love arriving on the wind?
Why do you run from its touch?
Maybe the right time has found you again
Maybe someone could care that much
What will you do when your trust returns?
In which place will it keep?
Maybe you’ll still run from the burns
Maybe you’re still cut way too deep
Where does your heart hide the painful past?
Is it there on your sleeve?
Do you fear that nothing will ever last?
Is all that you can do is leave?
