Let’s Love Like Lovers of the Past

Fred and Ginger
Fred and Ginger
Scarlett and Rhett
Scarlett and Rhett
Gable and Lombard
Gable and Lombard
Elizabeth and Richard
Elizabeth and Richard
Grace and Rainier
Grace and Rainier
Tracy and Hepburn
Tracy and Hepburn
Bogey and Bacall
Bogey and Bacall
Rick and Ilsa
Rick and Ilsa

Let’s love like lovers of the past
Let’s let the passion last
Let’s remember the fiery kisses
And all the magic that seemed so real

Let’s dance out among the stars
Like Fred and Ginger once did
Let’s retrace their steps
And dance the night away

Let’s love as deeply as Scarlett and Rhett
Though they were but a fantasy
Their passion seemed so real
Oh, to have a love like that

Let’s have passion
Like Gable and Lombard
A love so real and true
Till death parted them

Let’s have an enduring love
Like Elizabeth and Richard
Though their embers cooled from time to time
Their love flamed again and again

Let’s have a regal love
Like that of Grace and Rainier
Their love was enduring
Until tragedy parted them

Let’s have a plain and simple love
A love that comes from the heart
Like the love between
Tracy and Hepburn

Let’s have it all
The fire and the passion
The burning kisses and desire
Let’s follow in their footsteps
Till the end of our time

Let’s take our love to an island paradise
Like Bogey and Bacall
Let’s do this and so much more
Here’s looking at you kid
As Rick said to his Ilsa
As time goes by
Let’s keep on loving and giving
Let’s keep on living
And keep the fires burning

Oh this is ecstatic... such wonderful pictures.. and beautifully crafted verse! Love has rekindled all over again..

I am the old school myself where love is impractical, immaterial, immortal.... love is divine not bound by days and nights and calls and talks... Love lies in the essence of letters written in hand.. and clutched by the heart when read...

Where love flows in the tears, Where every day is bright and night is lit! :)

Lovely poem!

Rahul

A wonderful charade of love and the whole world at its feet! Great examples of legendary icons that dared to love on the silver screen and in real life like mortals. Great piece Gypsy!

Great use of those real romances and the cinematic one too to build an image of a towering love that could consume, and one that could last through a lifetime, maybe beyond. UP & all but funny!

Gypsy you never fail to move me with your wonderful poetry! What memories your words and these classic photographs bring back!! I honestly don't think that modern movie stars have the same kind of magical chemistry on screen or off screen that the old movie stars did - they were awesome and so is this wonderful piece of work you have created!!

Voted up everything except funny!!!

I'll take the plain and simple kind. The one that's always there, and has you back.

Have a great day! Hello to Sid. AD

Thank you so much for your comment and the vote Seeker7. Sigh yes, old Hollywood had it all. They just don't make them like they used to.

Awesome, beautiful, and up! This was really great! I love all those old movie stars, but I must say, I'm kind of cold on the word "love" at the moment. Even though I'm ticked off at love, I can still appreciate your awesome poem! Great work!

Thank you so much for you comment and the votes. Yes the old times were the most romantic. Hope you and the word "love" as such become friends again.
