Limerick of Summer

Limerick of Summer

When out in the garden I wonder,

and search for rain and thunder.

the summer heat and the haze

just lingers on for days,.

Could it be that God did blunder?

The torrents of rain,

Which should have hit Spain,

Washed my crops right into the ditch,

Causing an expletive ending in "bitch."

Think twice before YOU complain!

If you pray for rain,

and try not to complain,

be judicious for once,

and don't be a dunce,

also pray that they won't sustain.

As for the thunder,

and the thought God might blunder,

yield to Him my friend,

let your old knees bend,

at least He didn't rip you asunder!

Just natural challenges, worrisome as they may be.

A town irrigation ditch overflowed one spring. It happened less than 24 hours after I had the whole garden rototilled.

The result was that the topsoil at one end of the garden was carried all the way to the other end of the garden by the resulting flood.

Something like that must have happened to the gardener in this "teaching" limerick.
