Lions, Friends And Enemies

The wind is sweeping through the wall

you built to protect us from the angry winds

of impolite lions screaming at us.

Today I saw those lions with their

big, brown claws scratching on the screen

when the TV was turned on.

It was in a place you and me had never been before,

somewhere on the island where the future

still is history, today it's history.

The sweet reality is close to you

and burning behind the bricks

in that wall, as time and eagles fly by.

It sure was a time nobody could

talk about today, in the backyard with

so many imaginary friends or enemies.

Nobody knows who they are

anymore, those enemies, friends, enemies

sharing a bottle of blue wine with you.

Why Did I Write This Poem?

Break of Dawn has written a hub about the Swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2011. Break of Dawn inspired me to read Tranströmer's poems. They are fantastic! His poems has inspired me to write this poem. If you have read any other of my poems, you can see that this is very different from them. Thank you for inspiring me Break of Dawn!

Hi shiningirisheyes, thank you. I'm sure there aren't many writers who can compete with Tomas Tranströmer. His poems are outsatanding, but sometimes you don't have a clue what they are about. Lol! You made me happy by stopping by. I'm going to read your blue chair poem soon, but I'm heading for work now. Thank you again! :)

Made, it is always a pleasure and a treat to wake up and see a hub by you. You have done a wonderful job with this type of poetry. I once said I wasn't fond of poetry, but people like you are changing my mind on that matter.

Sending hugs from Olympia,

Bill, I wasn't fond of poetry either. In fact, I haven't really read any poetry and I don't know anything about it. I just write it. Lol! Thank you so much for your wonderful support and friendship. Hugs all the way from a wet Finland.

Curiad, I'm not sure whether i like this or not. This kind of poetry doesn't really make any sense (LOL!), but I enjoyed writing it! Thank you for your kind comment. :)

Made - What a delightful surprise to read this hub. I'm thrilled that my hub inspired you to start to read Tomas Tranströmer's work. And what a wonderful treat to read this absolutely beautiful and intense poem. Quite different from your usual approach to poetry, and I love it! Keep it up, Made! I like to read more of the same from you. Great work in honor of a great Swedish poet. Voted up and shared. Thank you. Kram!

Break of Dawn, I'm reading Tranströmers poems every night before falling asleep. He seems to be much inspired by the ocean. I haven't read any of his newer poems yet. I really want to thank you for inspiring me with your hub. I haven't read much poetry before.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read and share this crazy poem, Lol! Kram :)

This is very intense. It almost creates a discomfort for the time. Very good poem.

W1totalk, this poem is very different from the poetry I usually write. I wanted to try something new. I was affected by Tomas Tranströmer's poems I had read the past days before I wrote this.
