Little boy Nigel gave a very good answer !
Nigel was sitting on the carpet and playing with his toy cars. His grandma was watching him as she sat on the couch.
‘What’s your aim in life, my child?’
Poor little Nigel! He was only four years old, how could he make out exactly what his grandmother just asked him!. He jumped up on her lap and said,
‘I don’t understand what you say!’
Grandma realized that the question was difficult for him to understand.
She said ‘ Well let me make it simple. Tell me what do you want to be when you grow up?’
‘ Come on Grandma, I don’t know!'
His dad was reading the newspaper. He said ‘ Nigel, you can answer this question. Just think about it.’
' I would like to be a Magician or a Footballer, Doctor or an Engineer.'
Grandmother said ‘ Oh no, not that way. You will have to be specific. You will have to say only one and not like either this or that’.
Nigel was thinking as to what to answer!.
His dad said ‘ Well my son, Say what you feel like.’
‘ I don’t know but I would like to be a very good and kind gentleman.’
Grandma was pleased . She gave him a big kiss and said ‘ Thank you very much, you have really given a very good answer. Yes, one must be a very good , kind and gentle person and that is indeed so important. Intelligent as you are I am sure you will do very well in life. You can be a Doctor, an Engineer, a footballer, a Magician whatever but whatever you become it is so important that you grow up to become a very good and kind gentleman.’
His father smiled.
Nigel's face lit up with joy. He was glad to hear that he gave a very good answer.
His mother was in the kitchen. She heard everything and looked happy as she brought a cup of milk for Nigel.
