Longing for You...a poem
Longing for You
By Tony DeLorger © 2013
My hearts stills when I look at your face,
each line each feature, perfection,
and my soul slips blissfully into your essence,
as if I belonged within you, part of you,
your every cell my sanctuary.
I don't even know your name,
but when I peer into your loving eyes
I see God, I see all that is pure and profound,
and it moves me so, touches my heart,
and I know whoever you are, you exist.
I am lost within your beautiful face,
your soft round lips, filled with intent,
about to impart words, unimagined,
and your eyes so open and crystal,
inviting a heart to unfurl like a summer blossom.
I long to know you, to see you laugh,
to see you walk the days of your life,
elegantly, with all your challenges and triumphs,
and for you to somehow know that I exist,
a lifetime away, adoring your every second of life.
What is it between us, that your image touches me so,
are you from a past life, a lover, a sister,
that you touch me so profoundly, my heart aching,
to be near you, to be reunited, to at least meet;
I cannot erase you from my heart.
You live in the clouds of my mind, haunting me,
and each time I see you, I melt,
the warmth of my love for you weakens my resolve,
to live my life alone, knowing I am yours,
in every fiber of my being, I am yours.
Have we been here before? Will we be here again? Sometimes when you meet someone, they are so familiar, their presence so profoundly familiar, that you have to believe that this connection has substance.
