Repeat Offense

Repeat

Regenerate

This is the state

Of mind that we’re in

After all that we’ve been

Through yet again

We find ourselves

Back to square

One and once more

We fail to ignore

The things that never

Had any meaning

And yet just the same

Things never change

And we open the doors

We thought we had locked

And the clock never stops

As our feelings resurface

With power and prowess

To prohibit our progress

Into uncharted places

That we always had dreamed

We would find someday

But time ticks away

And our fears take hold

Again, yet again

As we let one more chance

Dwindle softly and fade

Opportunities missed

Overlooked, undefined

It all comes in time

We all realize

Our lives are but just

Adrift in the ocean

Of the confused

And the lost

so very true. too many times we let our fears keep us from doing the things we want to do in life, fear of failure, for some a fear of success. fear of being on our own, of leaving the nest. once we conquer our fears can we truly achieve greatness, and we fail to see is all those little things we ignore, that seem meaningless, well i tend to believe theres a reason for everything, and those little things may serve as a butterfly effect to something in the future.

doug - I think at this point that it's all just an endless cycle of shit. We could never hope to learn or truly advance from from we really are. Thanks for the read man, your comments are always looked forward to

I find this tercet to be true of our individual endeavors in life, but also true on a broad societal scale. Societies fight for their freedom, then get lazy and throw it all away.

Very thoughtful piece here, Ben. Glad to see your still cranking out the hits despite the work and whatnot. Peace.

How many just bob about on the tide of life without raising their sails, well done :-)

Your poetry suggests that you are not as lost as this poem points out. Some people stumble around in the dark without finding the switch, whilst others wise up eventually. I suspect you, like myself are the latter. This is an excellent piece of work. Cheers

It... really made me remember some memories ><

It all comes in time

We all realize

Our lives are but just

Adrift in the ocean

Of the confused

And the lost

Loved those lines. Those lines are all too true, and I know that all too well.

thisismylife9123 5 years ago

oh, ben. what else can i say but that you are a purely talented individual. everything that is experienced by mankind, you find a way to put into words.

As we let one more chance

Dwindle softly and fade

Opportunities missed

Overlooked, undefined

this was my favorite, since i've let so many chances pass me by. keep writing.

Strong write Ben. It is clean and powerful. Life cannot be as futile as you paint it. Perhaps lessons return to us because we didn't learn them the first time. Stay to your path Ben, let others' stories not be yours. Wonderful uncharted places do wait for you.

p.s. I remembered the buttons this time.

How many hours, days, weeks, months of my life have I spent doing this? And then even pondering how many I give attention to things that, in the end, really do no matter.

I think I keep commenting 'Brilliant write" but they all have been. You started out strong here and you are jumping every hurdle, clearing them with ease!!!

Ben, I love this, the subject is something I know all to well. I like the last 4 lines, so very true. I always find myself dwelling on the things I tell myself to ignore, and they always are the things that I know are pointless to continue worrying about. Good poem :)
