Love Letters From An Astronaunt

by Laura Summerville Reed

My paperweight eyes

Pin your voice to the desktop

I save the souvenirs

But love letters

From an astronaut

Rarely make it through the atmosphere

I watch you from a low window

My reflection catches on the pane

Tiny white parhelia

A sycophant of the sun

You are meteor

You are fame

You are one giant step

Into the flame

I step to my low window

To catch the love letters

From an astronaut

A weary man

With haggard thoughts

Waits for me inside

The house of tall windows

Never looking outside

To gaze upon the stars

We’ve made

To guide ourselves by

I feel privileged to speak first about the piece. Transcends time and space. Silky smooth, love it.

Ahhh, thank you AP, may I borrow it for a moment? The one I have has so much written between the lines I can barely make sense of it all, haha! ~ Laura

Thank you, Gerg. That means a great deal coming from you, you're writing is quite eloquent. You do capture a metaphor beautifully. ~ Laura

Oh wow.. So many fine shells I found looking over the shoulders of those like Nellianna. I will enjoy all you write and feel proud of my ability to stand on my toes and see that there pearls within hidden pages on this site and great shoulders to look over. Great work! Thank you Poet.

Pearldiver, I'm humbled by your kind and generous words. Nellieanna is an extraordinary talent. To be mentioned in the same breath as she is such an honor. Thank you.
