Love Poems For My Love
A gull, screaming of loneliness
is my love
circling above you
You wash your hair
like drifting red sea-weed
hiding your face
On your bare back, a glowing rock
my lips must trace down drops of sea-water
I need to know the taste
of sea-salt and sun and playful waves
Stop that, you yell at me
You are drinking up the sea
Do not cry that I am drowning
because if I die,
I will die hugging a mermaid
walking in a grassy meadow
in thin, thin summer clothes
scratching your fresh mosquito bites
in lazy reflection
young and so filled
with the memory of love
to catch floating cobwebs
that caress your lips and cheeks
and think a little of rain and wind
maybe waiting for a letter
perhaps thinking of asking for advice
or even wondering if you're still in love
I have thought about you always waiting a long time
I held you so dear, my heart made a secret plan
I felt you were near, your warmth and your light
But our dream was that late flower
fading into ice.
I had thought...
But then you came
With this secret smile
And this look of anticipation
I took your hand and held it to my chest
A gentle strokes, a little caress, in a crowded street.
Now we sit here together
High above the sea
Far below the sky
Floating in dreamy pleasure
Gazing in each other's eyes
Under the blue
Over the blue
Heaven and earth.
Wake a new day
The sky is crying
For all of us
We do not understand
We do not have words
A river of sorrow
A flood of despair
But the sun radiates love
A new day will break
Our sad hearts know this
And we cry with
All who have felt
All who have lost
Hands clutching with hope
And a prayer spoken
For a second chance
Come and listen to the light
of the dawn of the day,
as the sun blows his trumpet loud.
Listen to the white wings of butterflies,
as they flutter in graceful curtseys
flirting with the gentle breeze.
This may be our best day!
The trail that we tread yesterday is as new,
as secret as at our hearts' first dawn.
Come and listen to the deep,
as we row against the day.
Your gaze is free to roam along the horizon.
Listen to the dusk as our day is almost gone.
The night droning in distant hills,
but saying nothing about our next dawn.
Tomorrow may be our best day!
