Love is Like This to Me, a love poem

Love is like this to me
When I am alone our house is a structure
When you are with me, it is home

And love is like this to me
A silvery filament strung across empty space
Connecting your heart to mine
Making you a part of me

And love is like this to me
A fabric woven of good decisions and bad,
our shared history of tears and smiles, hurts and joys
assembled invisibly without awareness,
gently cradling my spirit

And love is like this to me
Your robe hanging on the back of the door, your glasses
by the lamp, your coffee cup on the counter,
your guitar leaning in the corner, your slippers on the floor
your shape under the blankets next to me at night
your voice on the phone, your smile at random moments
and your presence by my side

And love is like this to me
The fire and passion, a low vibrant hum under the business of life,
The ease of finding my place, sliding in next to you where I fit
The anticipation that you will be there when I arrive
My certain place in an uncertain world

I love you.

Thanks so much. I am not a poet, and I do know it, but I like to dabble from time to time.

Wow - what a glorious poem of love. How lovely each idea connects with the next. I particularly like your line, "A silvery filament strung across empty space

Connecting your heart to mine". Just magnificent! You are a talent to be reckoned with Karen. My favorite poet! Rated up and beautiful.

Thank you so much, vocal! I don't really count myself as a poet, but I appreciate your compliments. It means a lot to me as I really did put my heart into this one.
