Lovers Bridge.

Another beautiful sunny day here again. How nice after the constant rain of the past months. Mind you we are lucky here in that we were not affected by flooding as so many have been.

My last few hubs have been about the glorious springtime which is my favourite time of the year however there is great beauty in each season .

Yesterday I was sorting out my photos and came across photos of the riverside in the Seaside town of Aberaeron which is where I grew up. It is a beautiful town and over the glorious stretch of the River Aeron stand Lovers Bridge.

I had meant to share many photos of the riverside today but then into my mind crept this story ;however I have to add here that I made this one up as I went along and it is not a true legend.

I shall share all the other photos in another hub very soon.

This tale is a little sad but I hope you enjoy.

Each furtive glance

heartbeats racing

each careful footstep

brushing against

the dusty ground.

Inching forward

breath slightly rasping

at the silhouette

of her

sinful secret

but how could a sin feel so right.

The shadows veils

draped and dark;

faces masked

forms blurred.

Were they mocking

at her obvious flaws?

Were they ridiculing

her warmth

her passion

her all?

Source

With open arms

her lover stood

with abandoned joy

she flowed

into their

strength

that raw need

to love the night away.

"Come now my love

fear no more!!"

"Come now my love

I will protect thee for sure!"

Feelings deepening

moment by moment.

There stood in the darkness

a solid form

of

'The Old Wishing Well.'

Cupid's arrows etched

deep in its walls;

he engraved their

names;

their love;

their all.

His lips found hers

in abandoned bliss;

inhibitions thrown

into the realms of time.

Whispered endearments

deep moans of raw pleasure;

oh how she craved his love;

how he gave her his all.

They lay united;

energies spent

in a sated bond;

two lovers in love.

Were they meant to be?

The time arrived

that parting inevitable

how their hearts ached

so wounded

so raw!!

Source

Arms entwined

by the river banks

reaching that bridge;

now the pains of parting

stabbed

both hearts

and

thrust

deeply into

each soul!!

From the eerie shadows

lurked

an evil form;

that sneer

so cruel;

a scarred

face

so monstrous

so vile!!

A mind so cold

A spirit so evil!!

Forward

he crawled

well out of sight.

How dare she deceive him ;

this whore, his wife!!!!

Source

A cracking branch

gave him away

the lovers turned to where he lay!!

Her heart screamed out in muted pains!!

This husband

who beat her

who cruelly mocked her

and

viciously raped her!!

With a roar of insanity

he charged and aimed

as the gunshot

pierced

the darkness

of the night.

Source

On the break of dawn

a fisherman walked

on his start of a brand new day;

with horror he recoiled

feeling surges of repulsive

nausea

bilious

and

threatening

as he came upon

the blood stained forms

of the two lovers.

Arms entwined

united eternally.

Souls lay together

in heaven;

while

only their shells

lay saturated

in their own

pools of blood

that night.

Source

On each beautiful

brand new dawn

angelic forms

flow

with arms entwined

and souls never again to be apart

stand in sweet repose

on what is today known as

Lovers Bridge.

Source

Lovers Bridge

Oh sweet sensations

Volcanic powers of true love

Each heart so tender so true

Radiating in the sunshine's warmth

Sweet moments so tender .

x

By the river banks

Reaching out to love

In unreserved passion

Drawn to magnetic forces

Give your heart so fitting so clear

Etched deep into Lovers Bridge.

Here I wish you all a wonderful day and lots of love from my little corner of Wales.

What a love story, Eddy! Is this the legend of Lovers Bridge? How sad for them, although their souls are together forever never to be apart again. And the fair maiden is free from the shackles of pain and abuse. While it may not seem so, this story does have a happy ending.

Hi Sha and thanks for taking the time to visit as always.I have to admit that I do not know if there is a legend to Lovers Bridge and I just made this one up and they are together forevermore.

This story just unfolded as I went along it takes me so much longer to get each image just right. So glad you enjoyed it and here's to wishing you a wonderful day. It is actually quite nice here again (weatherwise) we've had so much rain this year so far with so many homes flooded. We have been fortunate not to live near the river or not too near anyway. Anyway time for that next cuppa now and lots of love to you from Wales my dear friend.

Hi Eddy.

You know me and poetry, but I have to say this is a beautifully written story, even though it is sad.

On a brighter note, I was wondering have you and Dai visited the wishing well and did your wish come true? lol.

Have a nice mid-week Eddy.

Actually Ghaelach now we haven't visited the wishing well together but will do the next time we are there. This poem is a little sad and I love composing my happy springtime ones but this is what flowed this morning. Another thought came to me as I read Shauna's comment too I have never tried to find out if there is a legend attached to Lovers Bridge. Hmmm will have to go googling I think. So nice o see you here my dear friend and I wish you a great day.

Lots of love from Wales.

What a loving story which turns sad Eiddwen. I guess it is the legend of the bridge and you heard it when you were young. We must all learn to let go of the past. Voted up.

I was getting so drawn in, I had to remember you stating that it wasn't real. Enjoyed it. Lots of sunshine here and birds chirping and almost every week, snow. What a spring to remember. Enjoy your day.

This is so brilliant and heart filled... The words are adhesives to the mind and each line is a nourishment, tickling the heart as it arises great anticipation on the next line. I love poetry too and I have written some poems as well, this piece just hit that soft spot in me to visit the realm of playing with words to ignite the mind. Thanks for your wonderful share...

So nice to see you've called by M2M,your comment so appreciated and I would love to read your poems too .When I joined HubPages around four years ago I could only compose rhyming verse since then I have grasped Freeverse which I love ; Haiku, Rictameter and Acrostic. However seeing as they are self taught I have probably picked up many errors ;its a little I think like learning to drive a car on your own without being taught by an instructor. Thanks once again and here's to many more hubs for us both to share on here.

Lovely but somewhat sad words ere Eddy. I look forward to reading if you do find out about a history of "Lover's Bridge". It seems that most places like this tend to have interesting histories attached. Voted up.
