Perceptions of love are many,
most attuned to the notion of romance,
the physical expression of hearts surrendered.
Yet love is not bound by our perceptions
nor the limits of any viewpoint.
Love is an emotion of selfless giving and adoration,
experienced with not only partners,
but children, family, animals and with all life.
Love could be as simple as a touch, a smile, an open hand,
to a stranger, a friend, a pet, any animal in trouble.
Love is intention as much as it is action,
from a loving heart with nothing to gain by it.
Courtesy is akin to love, a selfless gesture
that could make a person’s day,
give them the motivation to act also.
Love wears many faces and can move mountains,
save souls and spread like a beacon light throughout the world.
Each perfection of process, growth and prosperity,
has the touch of love within it,
the inspiration that love nurtures in souls.
Love is the word least understood in language,
as it moves throughout our lives
on a quest of fulfilment.
Often we don’t recognise it,
realise the root of intention,
but within us all is the potential to foster love,
in all we do and in how we treat and respond to one another.
