Memory of a Friend (poem)
When we first met it wasn’t love at all
We simply liked each other’s company
It’s true we danced I’d take you to the ball
For friends it seemed to come so naturally
-
We spent our time with others here and there
Remember we were truly best of friends
So natural to see us as a pair
Our friendship was as far as it extends
-
We didn’t need each other’s kisses then
No need for flow’ry words confusing things
We didn’t haunt each other’s dreams again
No need for rings and such confusing strings
-
Until one day when we were forced to part
A tear touched me and caused romance to start
