Mermaid Ride

On the bow of the boat

I ride.

First witness to what

Mother Nature provides.

The gentle sway

Of the waves

The dolphins

Keeping time

With their playful

Dance.

I no longer hear

Voices with words

I only hear

The elegance of the birds.

I hear the water

Gently slapping

And my self

Is no longer trapping

In thoughts of schedules

And what

People think.

The wind envelopes

My mind

And takes it away

To a place I’d

Love to live

Every day.

I ride on the bow

Or I stand

When going fast

My life is so

Free

When on the water

At last.

Water can be fascinating. So is this poem.

Thank you so much for your comment, Made. Water is fascinating. It holds freedom and danger at the same time. It can be calming and turbulent. Water is a very powerful force of Nature, indeed!

I love how you used the word envelopes to describe your mind being in some sort of trance; powerful imagery. Another great poem brave! Thanks for sharing! :) Voted up and awesome!

Wonderful! Voted UP - Ahhhh - wish I was there too! Got some rain tonight to help with the fire here - danced in it! (the rain, not the fire) That's as close as I got to "the water" today. :) Until your poem. Thank you for the beauty of escape.

Fairy Godson, your words mean the world to me! Thank you from my heart.

Heavenleigh, it pleases me that my poetry took you adrift. Dancing in the rain can be cleansing. Sorry to hear about the fires. Hopefully, the rain will ovecome and put them out.

Nice to see you again, Denise. It's been a long time. Where have you been hiding?

Thanx for stopping by my little corner!

It's a long, (sad, haha), story. Actually...I've been struggling with some depression and personal junk. :) Didn't feel much like writing. Hope you are well.

I'm doing fine. Going thru a few personal issues myself. Hope to be back on track by the end of July. Plan on tackling my creative dreams with a vengeance! Hang in there!

Thank you, Spy. I wrote it last year when I was riding the bow of the boat for a company charity. I love the wind. I love the water. I love Nature. I'm inspired when I'm outside the walls of life.

Thank you, Denise. That's exactly how I feel when riding the bow of a boat - free!

What a magical place to be, I can relate to this feeling, no voices, just the birds calling and the water slapping and the wind through your hair. Your poem conveys the feelings of totally living and loving the present. May you spend many long hours riding the bow of a boat. My votes and best wishes to you, Bravewarrior and sharing!!

Beautiful brave! One time I saw dolphins jumping out of the water in Florida. It was amazing!

They are amazing, Crafty. It's said that if they jump at the bow of the boat, you will have a safe journey.
