Messege in a Bottle

I'd have been better off to write it down
how in this world could we ever know
Tie it up in a string .....put it in a bottle
go down to the sea and let it go

Than to stand....heart in hand
while you skillfully watch me burn
Now ...now you return like that messege cast
to sea .....as if you found it and postmarked return

No the flame is dead ....and isn't that the
promise of fire
You said it best way back when.......
but which one of us is the liar

Sitting across the table....... the candle
reflects your eyes
No It's the other way around
once burned there's no surprise

That was both Poignant and Beautiful Ahorseback, I could feel your pain...never easy, no matter who does the breaking.

Terrific poem, ahorseback, very expressive. Sometimes there's no good resolution to the pain of an old flame.

Beautiful poem as always! The heart is a very delicate thing and pain can stab deeply or joy can make it bubble over. Thank you for all your writing, I am sorry I missed so much.

This reminds me of a line I wrote before... Here's to what was and is no more...

Very nice reflective piece my friend. I am glad this happened long ago - although I know the mamories linger as do the feelings... to surface when we least expect/

Hi ahorseback - The problem with putting messages inside bottles is that others can read what you have to say. Interesting thoughts here.

Gus :-)))

I love the last line once burn no suprise.

I really believe it's good sometimes when you get bitten by a dog, next time you'd be more careful and have safer tricks. MASTER OF THE HEART GAMES

Thanks for sharing your talent ;)

Game of heart indeed really tricky sometimes. Reminding me of Nicholas Spark's book, even with reverse content. Very beautiful, Sir. Like always. :)

Lovely nostalgic poem that is rich in emotion and imagery...the line "but which one of us is the liar" hit me squarely over the head...sometimes, I think, there is no liar beyond our expectations of happily ever after...not all good things are meant to last forever...the moon waxes and wanes, the tides ebb and flow, people, places and things change... great piece, ahorseback, I so enjoy your work!
