Mexican Girl

He was an artist

Who traveled far and wide

Seeking to find

What was just right for his canvas

He discovered a haven

Where rivers flowed

And mountains rose above meadows

Overhead many doves flew

It was in this artist’s paradise

That she did stray

So lovely, a true beauty

Just right for his artist’s brush

A Mexican girl

With raven black hair

And eyes of chocolate brown

A smile just like the sun

Days came and days went

As he painted this beauty

Whom he slowly began to adore

With a pure and undying love

It was for her

That he rose each day

It was for her

That he now stayed

The days just like the doves in the sky

Flew quickly by

And colors appeared on his canvas

That showed the girl he now loved

They were but star-crossed lovers

Who would, could never be together

Finally this artist came to realize

That he had to make his way back home

At night when the moon

Shone ever so bright

And the stars twinkled

He could see the path he had to take

There canvas upon canvas

Was the smile

He would always remember

And the Mexican girl who had stolen his heart

She cried the day he went away

But he’d never forget these days in the sun

Her strawberry red lips

And huge brown eyes misted with tears

Perhaps one day come what may

He could bring her into his world

That day when he was well-known

The day his paintings hung on many a wall

Then he’d return to this artist’s paradise

Find his Mexican girl

And their love would begin anew

Just as it had once before

Awesome! I just returned from Cancun last night and although I love it there, yesterday was such an exhausting flight, where most of the passengers were sick.

Nevertheless, it is beautiful out there and just like what the artist have painted here in your hub...I would fall in love too (not just with the girl)--but in the artists' paradise, itself, Mexico!

Up and sharing Rasma. Thanks.

A lovely story of the imaginations of an artist and his model...and how they became entranced with one another.....and the heart-tug, when they parted, that makes us sad.

A happy thought near your story's end, was the very best part....UP+++

i am not happy that star crossed lovers have to separate just because she might not fit in his world..

he seems to fit just fine in hers..

sigh..

life is complicated...i bet his pictures of her make him rich..

Awesome story woven here, Rasma...

sad yet beautiful...

LOVELY: we are all an inspiration to others even if it starts with a smile. The painter is moved and captures his muse well in your writing .Recently, I wrote 'con permisso" inspired by an actual artist I happened upon who ironically drew of a similar woman. You are welcome to read/rate it!

Glad you enjoyed this tale of the Mexican girl Paula thanks for the vote.

So glad you enjoyed this Leslie. Unfortunately that's the bad thing about this life - money talks and so once he's rich she can be with him. Too bad we can't just love for love's sake.

So glad you enjoyed this ALUR. I will take a look at your poem.

Glad you enjoyed this webQ23 and thanks for the vote. Find it? Perhaps hanging a right at Acapulco? lol

Oh you write such emotional and beautiful poetry while telling an emotional tale. I only hope they enjoyed a happy ending, that he ultimately became famous and went back to retrieve her.
