The Art of Patience.

In the car

I sit and wait,

As you do craft

And communicate.

It gives me time

To read and write,

So I won't complain

As many might.

You twirl a spindle

Or spin your wheel,

As I wait patient.

It's no big deal.

Next week, I'll take you

To the 'game',

You can wait for me,

It's just the same.

Action during a Rugby League game.

Patience is one of the many emotions ingrained in our psyche and is so helpful toward our growth. It's like waiting for one's turn in any queue without making a fuss. I don't know if animals and plants are equipped with this trait. However, I have witnessed it in dogs in some amount as an exception that they so eagerly and patiently wait for something eatable to be handed over to them. We humans have polished this emotion as an art as you have very beautifully depicted in this very sweet poem. Great poem ! Voted up with all my heart !

Whether in relationships, crafting, or both simultaneously, patience truly is a virtue. You've captured its essence here, Jodah. Nice offering, voted up.

Patience is such a virtue. It takes time to develop it. I really enjoyed this, it's light but the little things weigh a lot.

Patience is definitely an art of understanding, sharing and caring. I love this poem, Jodah -- well done. That photo of the brightly colored tree up top is awesome. Now that sure took someone with lots of patience to create.

Jodah profile image

Jodah 2 years ago from Queensland Australia Author

Thanks Kevin. Of any of my poetry that should appeal to non-poetry lovers, my micro-poems are the ones that should, because they are usually subjects most can relate to and have humorous endings. Thanks also for the share, vote up and pin.

Glad you enjoyed this Phyllis. Yes, when I chose that pic of the tree in the jumper I thought it was the ultimate example of 'patience'.

I like this poem because it reminds me of a lot of relationships I have had, where I did cross stitch and writing and he liked the stock market or pro wrestling. We didn't have to wait for each other that much though....as I'd only take 15 mins of watching wrestling and he listened politely to my chatter about my current craft. Voted funny!

Jodah profile image

Jodah 2 years ago from Queensland Australia Author

Thanks Suzanne. I'm glad you can relate, though a 15 minute wait either way isn't bad. Thanks for the vote up funny too.

Perfect. It does all balance out if we will look at it that way. A great and necessary perspective if one is to have healthy relationships, much less a strong marriage. I like this. :) Sharing. Theresa

It's a little give and take, right? Some artists did this same thing to a tree in downtown St Petersburg where I work. Very nice work my friend.

Jodah profile image

Jodah 2 years ago from Queensland Australia Author

Yes Wayne, definitely give and take. Knitting a jumper for a tree like this would be the ultimate test of patience. Thanks.
