Missing Her Touch

The years had flown by

Like so many birds in flight

There were so many memories

That came to his mind

The special things that she had said and done

The times that they had shared

And he knew that he had to walk out into the garden

To be among the roses and daffodils

That she had planted

It seemed as though he could be closer

To her out there

And he wondered if she

Might be there beside him

Just perhaps out of reach

And he was lost in thought

As he wandered about

Everywhere there was something that reminded him

Of the special times they had had

Looking up at the moon and the stars above

He could imagine her lovely smile

He knew it would take

A long time to get used

To her not being with him anymore

And he longed to feel her gentle touch

Then it began as his memory strayed to days gone by

Somewhere from a distance

Came a sound he hadn’t heard in so long

And the melody grew louder

It appeared as if the night

Had become brighter

And he heard in this mind

The song that they had loved and shared

Then suddenly he saw her

Reflected in the moonlight

Her smile so lovely and endearing

And he went to her

Suddenly like in days gone by

They were dancing on the garden paths

And he could have sworn

That it was so very real

As the night began to fade to day

Her image just drifted away

And he returned to the house

Knowing that he would miss her

And look for her

When night came once more

And the garden spun its magic

Beautiful poem of sentiment and longing for what was and had been. A loss deeply felt for the one left behind. Love the idea he saw her once again in the garden, with her flowers there. : ) Voted it up and accordingly.
