Have you ever had pages missing from the middle of a book?
Last Sunday morning I was in the middle of a good novel -- "The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes" by Diane Chamberlain. Had the whole day ahead of me and planned to read until my eyeballs fell out, one of my favorite favorite pasttimes. Hit page 232 ... and the next page was 255. What a drag! I could not believe my eyes. There were over 30 pages missing from the middle of this book! This has never happened to me before and I've plowed through a lot of books in my many years of voracious reading. Has this ever happened to you?
Luckily, my daughter was at the store where I purchased the book and brought me a new copy so I could finish it that day. Yep, she's back in the will!
Our entire family reads constantly. One of my happiest memories of childhood was the Bookmobile that came once a week and parked at the end of our block. You could check out 10 books and I would spend hours in there choosing carefully. Then I'd read them all and read them again until I could get new ones the next week. The summers of my youth were filled with the fragrance of fresh cut grass and trips to the Bookmobile!
