Monster Mayhem - In the Bronx, Baby - Monsanto/Mutants -Welcome to America 2017

Don't tread on me.

Dedicated to the survival of the human race.

Part three

We're still here. So are the monsters Monsanto unleashed on the world a few weeks back.

Stay away from the cities.

Rumors of "Moral Monitor" soldiers and FEMA Concentration Camps are growing every day. If just a fraction of what I'm hearing on the CB airwaves is true, it's not just the animals being monsters anymore. Hang in there America. Watch your back.

God be with you,

Jonathan Simon

Re: Under the Bronx, The Big Apple

By: Geek Sleek

Defense is a Mother.

Cyrus broke bad the day after we lost nine of our brothers to freaking rats on steroids. When the sun rose, he and the old heads of 27 of the Bronx’s finest gangs had been holding council for hours, already. It was some serious shit and no one was laughing. They had maps of the whole subway system laid out showing everything down to the wires. He declared the theme of the day to be two ways in, two ways out, both strong enough to hold off a tank and small enough only two people at a time could fit through.

I had a ringside seat, hiding in the closet staring through the keyhole.

I do not own, nor did I create the video above. it is an except from the movie "The Warriors."

A month back, stacks of cash on the table. Now, it was maps, charts, plans.

Cyrus had each man map out any existing caches of weapons or supplies left in his hood. After that, all the stores and businesses, hell, houses they even suspected might have something we could use. Each head was then to assign a crew of his own soldiers to go to their turf and gather up.

Cyrus was cold as stone when he laid it down. “Search and Seize Mother F#ckers.”

Large things had to come first because when it was all done, there would be no way to get it down here. Everything, so far, was pretty much as expected. Brothers been "searching and seizing" for a long time on smaller scales, but then, he said something else. He did that thing he does when his voice gets real quiet, but you hear it more.

How's he do that?

"This is how it's going to be." Cyrus said

“Bring back anyone you can find that’s alive and wants to come. Don’t take from those trying to hold their own, but don’t leave a single soul that don’t want to be left. Anyone tries to stop you, convert them if you can, waste them if they get in your way.

Load up and go in hard. No telling what’s between us and what we got to have to survive this shit. Tell your men to be ready for anything.

When we came here, there were already those crazy “Moral Soldiers.” They ain't nothing but the Pied Piper's, want to be black, traitor against America army on the streets with that damn martial law and shit. Like they saved anyone but themselves.

Stay away from them f#ckers.

Don’t let them see you.

If we got to kill one of them, it’s really on. Any mother f#cker so much as scratches one of them answers to me.

If you have to, make damn sure no one will ever know but me...

Or join them.”

Leftovers from the taxpayer

Sleepy Boo, from the south side, said he knew of a huge pile of cinder blocks, re-barb and other building stuff in the tunnels. It was leftovers from a tunnel they started but never finished. He said it was status normal for the government and he bet they finished billing the tax payers. It was a good ways off, but the materials could be used to secure openings at locations the council had marked off.

The problem was how to get it here. The tunnels are huge. We had vehicles and enough gas already stored. Man power was the issue. Some of the gangs were running low on guys considering we been a rat buffet of late. It’s not like Cyrus is telling the granny brigade to move it to the front lines when the bastards get in. Brothers been taking a licking lately. There were lots of people, but this was going to be hard work. Cyrus had little kids, elderly, sick and injured all to consider.

That’s where I got drafted.

Grams always said curiosity killed the cat.

I didn’t take the time to think about it much. It’s just one of those things she says when she don’t like what she thinks I’m up to.

I know now.

Curiosity almost killed this cat.

I got a bad habit. I listen a lot; don't talk much outside this box. Before this little sit down, I heard two of the big guys talking about Cyrus wanting to see them all earlier and put two and two together. The closet I’m working this computer in is off the room where they were meeting. I sat up before they ever started.

I’ve been watching Cyrus. I knew he would get here before the others. He’s the man. I want to be like him, some damn day, if I don't get ate by some stinking rat. Evidently, he’s been watching me, too. When the fellows started freaking on how to cover both jobs with so few soldiers up to it, he called my name. I mean come on! I had the damn door closed since before any of them got here and still he knows. How did he know I was listening?

Upside down

Have you ever got what you wished for and wished you had not?

  • Not once. I never get lucky.
  • Yep. Wasn't good.
  • Nope. No time for wishing, too busy prepping.
See results without voting

It’s so weird.

Before all this shit went down, I would have jumped at the chance to bang for Cyrus. Fighting my way to the top was what I wanted out of life, what I dreamed about. Now, having seen brothers eaten right in front of my eyes, fighting doesn’t rank so high. Now, I just want to survive. Over the last days I’ve seen guys step up and be heroes. They’re dead now.

Did you ever just know it was going to be bad?

With my balls in my throat,

I was thinking Cyrus was going to assign me with a click going into the city. I stepped into the room looking him dead in the eye. Then, he really surprised me. He tells me to get together as many guys roughly my age as I can that aren't already going into the hoods. Cyrus said "Go younger if the guy is large. Get them big gals and tomboys too. Go for people you think can hang when some serious shit goes down and not freak."

In short, I was to take this group to get the building supplies and bring them back. I was in charge. I was happy for about a second. Then it occurred to me, we could be hit with anything between here and there.

Yea. And I'm good for this why?

What the hell was I supposed to do about it?

I'm freaking 13.

I have been practicing keeping my face cold for years. It's a required skill in the hood, no emotion, nadda. Something must have showed because Cyrus just kind of grinned and told the guy to his right to send two “bad ass mothers” with us. “Hell kid, take the Beast.”

I couldn’t believe he was giving me the Beast. The Beast is an old school bus. The ex-bus driver, Leon, that rigged up our electricity, decided to pimp it out. It looked like something from out of “The Road Warrior” by the time he was done. He even put a gun turret on each end of the roof. The Beast is one bad ass bitch, that’s for sure. I was still nervous as all hell.

That was that.

I went about assembling the group. Dread, one of the two bad asses assigned to go with us said no more than 12. We needed all the room we could get for the supplies and we didn’t want to have to make more trips than absolutely necessary.

So he and me is tooling around the corner when I get knocked flat on what Grams calls my skinny ass by the baddest bitch I ever knew, Lenia Ramone. I used to have nightmares about this chick. That heifer done beat down every boy in my class at one point or another over the first six years we went to school. She was sent to alternative school after that.

Damn though, she grew right.

Hey! WTF? BBS.

Will the boy banger bounce back?

Will the beast best the beasties?

Will bangers save the Bronx?

Stay tuned.

Oh, and by the way, what's up with those "Moral" boys? Everything is not fiction. Food for thought.

Grab a creature feature and cuddle up for scary boo time.

Mutants, monsters, movies and more...

Hi, all. Vix here. Creature features make up a unique genre within the realm of Science Fiction.

When hyped up on way too much coffee and penning this little vision of the future, a few of my favorite old movies came to mind. Some were creature features, some were not, but they all rocked in their own ways.

Creepy Crawlies come first.

It is a little known fact that these three films were made with ulterior motives by the true controllers of the movie industry, the behind the scenes power players, the ones you never, ever hear about... Cats!

Cats have been discrediting the mouse population for eons untold. Mouse persecution through media manipulation keeps cats getting fatter while mice all across the country get a bad name.

Hello! Sarcasm. Rats are repugnant little, beady eyed vermin. The only way they get in is on the tube.

Trivia - While not being the safest choice, an aerosol can and lighter works well for creepy crawlies, if you have to go there... I'm just saying.

No creepy or crawly, but still scary.

I must have seen "The Warriors" at least 20 times. I love that movie. For its day, it was a gritty, edgy, urban warfare type, pop culture flick that became a cult classic.

While we are thinking gritty and edgy, sorry about the potty mouth peeps and peepetts, and most especially to the powers that be who chose to disable all adds as a result. No hard feelings and I totally understand; However, the boy banger likes the inflection and colorful vocabulary that is unique to the sub culture of gangs. Look at it this way, for his age, his vocabulary is rich from a cultural capitol perspective outside white bread America. Food for thought.

Speaking of a Cult Classic;

Who hasn't seen the "Mad Max" series? It's where I got the idea for the beast in this ongoing nightmare vision of our future. The Road Warrior series, as it came to be dubbed after part two, made Mel Gibson in America. I have seen them all, but if I'm being honest, I will never watch the first one in the series again. It's just too brutal and makes my BP go sky high. "Mad Max- Beyond Thunder Dome" concluded the series. Many a post apocalyptic flick was born from the original series' themes and ideas about impending dark days for humanity.

Boy, you can really talk, lady. I didn't even notice there were no ads. Wow! I'm proud of you, and now I really want to see The Warriors again. You 2o, me just once, and on TV, way before videos and CDs. I've watched the original Planet of the Apes about 20 times though, plus at least 20 times when I was a projectionist, but I kept missing the same parts while changing reels--no more reels today, though.

Anyway, Vix, good hub, as usual, but 2017? You aren't giving us a lot of time, but then I've been "preparing" for years already, but no way am I "ready."

SubRon7 ~ Thank you for dropping by this little whatever it will become at this hour. And thank you even more for your words of support and encouragement. They mean much more than I can say.

I love "The Planet of the Apes." I saw all the movies, the series, and even the cartoons! Boy, was I hooked on all things ape for a while.

Well, to be honest I projected the date much further into the future than what I think the actual date of a SHTF situation will be. Sorry.

God bless you, my friend. None of us are ready, no matter what we think. God be with us. He's our only chance.

You are one hell of a writer. Well done Vix....take care of our own, take back our rights, stand up for all freedoms, help others when we can...that, my friend, is a recipe for survival in this new if we can only get others to listen to the truth. :)

Sending you respect and admiration

billybuc ~ Thank you, my friend. I truly do appreciate all of your support and kind words. As you know, I just recently jumped into freelance writing for money. What a gig. I was used to students arguing over directions. I didn't expect it from adults. My bad. It's OK. I'm encouraged. You know how A type personality I can be, so of course I set a goal for myself. I always go too high. I only got almost half way last week. I'm happy to report today is Tuesday and I'm already double that number, so I am encouraged. It's largely thanks to you. God bless you. You sure have helped me.

Actually now that I am into part 3 of the one of the most amazing reads for me ever at the Hub (believe me, the epi-man is inspired because you are truly exploiting his cinematic mind with this one) I must say this is quite an unsettling story teetering on the edge of insanity, madness and mayhem. You are keeping my blood pressure high here Rhonda , lol, because it reads like a thrill ride and I love the recurring video images of a film by Walter Hill called The Warriors. (I watched an old VHS copy of it a year ago and it still holds up to this day and I am wondering why they have never made a remake although I would think the original would still be the best - to me it's a timely and timeless classic)

You really put your creative heart and soul into this piece my dear Miss Rhonda - it's one of the most original and inventive pieces I've ever read - love your characters and the raw language too ,lol.

I shall return.

And sending to you and Elwood my best wishes for this first Monday in April from Colin, Tiffy and Gabriel at lake erie time ontario canada 1:22pm

Dearest Epi, thank you so much for continuing on this scary trip. It really is an unsettling story. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to write, but its alarming too. While the animal monsters may be a bit of a stretch, I'm not so sure governmental responses to crisis modeled here are too far off the mark. Now, that's scary!

"The Warriors" is one of my all time favorite movies. I heard about a year back that they were going to remake it but have not heard anything since. I like the original so much, I think any remake would pale in comparison.

Wishing Miss Tiffy, Mr. Gabriel and yourself a wonderful day from a steamy Texas. I'm speaking for Elwood here as he's still snoozing. I'm sure he will agree upon waking as long as I get his kibble out quick. He demands breakfast upon waking. He hasn't yet grasped the idea that breakfast is only after one awakes for the first time in the morning! God bless and happy hubbing!

Personally, I think you should replace Sci-Fi or, at least, be a writer for them. This is some quality stuff! It's nice to see a bad ass girl among guys. I think preparation for fighting these monsters has to be my favorite part of this kind of genre. As always, voted up awesome!

Writinglover ~ Oh, my goodness, wouldn't that be a dream job? Thank you so much for the encouragement. This is definitely out of my normal range of writing but it's turning out to be so much fun I don't think I'm going to be stopping soon.

We need more female heroines! I'm so sick of the damsel in distress mess girls are taught I could puke. Don't get me wrong, I like my heroes rough and ready, all male, but I don't think that means that all females have to be weak just so males can be strong in the stories.

Speaking of stories... for anyone who hasn't checked it out, writinglover has one heck of a dangerously disturbing erotic flash fiction tale going. You should check it out. It's addictive, sexy, and psychologically scary!

How do, Rhondu? Stepped into the middle of your series and it stands well on its own. The real world has kept me from the cyber world for the better part of this year. I pop in to write a hub but rarely find time to read. You sure know how to build a "pressure cooker". I just love your edginess. Screw the ads. Advertise your mad writing skills. You rock. Gerry

Sligobay ~ Hi there, Gerry. It's good to see you. I can so relate. Real life annoyances have kept me away from reading and writing for far too long. Sadly, the soonest out I see is May 1, but it could be worse.

You made by day by letting me know this stood alone and still made sense. Thank you so much for taking the time and for your most gracious comment. God bless you and may all of your hubbing be happy.
