Moon Glasses - A poem

"There's a full moon out tonight..."

The moonlight didn't haunt me

even if I was like paralyzed

walking on that small road.

On my left side,

big trees casted their shadows over me.

On my right side,

there was a wide field.

I couldn't see the flowers anymore.

It was too dark.

The clouds where thin,

and behind them,

I saw the full moon.

It watched over the landscape as I was walking.

Far away I could hear the traffic.

An airplane flew over my head,

so close to the ground,

and its lights were blinking in the sky.

In a few minutes it would land on the ground

with greetings from another land,

where the moon didn't shine.

I was captured by the lightning

in the dark of the night.

The sun had just set

and I could still see stripes on the dark sky,

left by the sun.

They reminded me of my day.

The stripes spread

wide across the sky,

over the field and

over the tree tops.

The words came to me

so fast I could hardly think.

They made me think of a poet

I once had seen and heard,

reading a poem filled with

enthusiasm

hope and joy about life.

I felt I was alive,

alone in this wonderful moonlight.

I was alone as a human,

but it didn't bother me.

This night was like a gift to me.

I felt calm and relaxed.

My children were sleeping,

safe in their beds.

Soon I would get blinded by

the lights from a car,

the only car I would meet this evening.

Wow, I could see silhouettes

from the houses

in the magic light,

and suddenly

I heard the river purl.

I had almost drowned in words

as I was walking,

and now the noises around me

kept me awake.

The clouds slowly swept away

and left the moon naked.

It blinded me and lit up the darkness,

and I thought I might need moon glasses.

Why aren't there any moon glasses?

Fresh air surrounded me.

I couldn't see anyone else.

"They don't know what they missed tonight,

when they stayed home

instead of going out

to enjoy the moonlight,

the sounds

and a beautiful night.

They stayed inside

with their moon glasses on."

I wonder if people see

what I see

if they take their moon glasses off...

Thank you Bill. These words and so many more hit me last night when I was taking a walk. The words attacked me and had to be written. :)

Hi Made.

This is wonderful.

It took me back to a book I read early this year by a Japanese writer. The best seller was called 19Q4 (1984). Your poem was like a story that had two worlds. Beautifully written, and the video was superb.

LOL Ghaelach

Morning again Made.

1Q84 was written by Haruki Murakami. It is/was an international best seller. It is around 1000 pages and is a trilogy or three books in one.

As I said before your wonderful hub brought the book to my mind.

LOL Ghaelach
