Mother’s Love, a resolution

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

A last hope,

a lone skinny child,

a mother’s undying love,

a life beguiled.

Nurtured, adored

and given life through a straw,

sheltered, protected,

and much, much more.

Mother’s bond,

a loving embrace

with chains and expectations

for her own sake.

Deserted by her man,

deserted by life,

her pride and joy has taken a wife.

Never good enough

for her only son,

always wanting

every one.

Emotional clinging,

a saviour expected,

unable to let go,

the son now rejected.

Deserted once more,

husband never forgiven,

alone and bitter,

a cancer is driven.

Deep in her soul,

her bitterness whole,

manifests in her body,

a taking of will.

Suffering, denial,

the pain of regret,

now is taking a life

for what she can’t forget.

Relentless her stubbornness,

even in death

forgiveness impossible,

her payment of debt.

Misunderstood, battered

of mind and in strife,

my mother’s resentment

has cost her a life.
