My 4 Legged Friend

You wake me up with your cold nose pressed against me

and a gentle wash till I get out of bed,

with your tail wagging ready for endless play.

You are my comfort and my companion

my four legged friend.

Your playful times excite me

when we play ball and go catch,

the fun we have together

shared only by you and I.

Your mischievous behavour

and sad puppy dog eyes,

the rewards that you give me

by endless cuddles and fuss.

With doggy walks which gives us much pleasure

as I see you sniff and explore everywhere.

That damn puddle I keep trying to avoid

where you seem to ignore as you wallow in the muddy waters.

With tests of human patience

soon gone as I see you look at me

with a look saying this is fun.

You stand next to me and you protect me

from strangers around unknown,

my guard dog evolves as you stay close by me.

You never give up on me with the things that I say

In my friendship and my teachings.

I confide in you and I trust you

and I know just how much you understand.

You give me such fond sweet memories

in pictures of what's been and what will be.

A sweet face and a silent voice,

my forever four legged friend.

That is a beautiful poem.

I love dogs. They truely are mans best friend. I miss going for walks in the forest with my little buddy.

Did you take that picture of the griz?

I used to sit on a rock and play my flute for them while the fished for salmon in Canada during the fall. It is surprising how grentle they can be, but must be respected of course.

I discovered you recently and I'm already beginning to admire your poetic style. I love dogs and I loved your poem.

This is beautiful Peter! Dogs are such loving companions. They are truly a gift from God. I really liked your hub.
