My Girl Jo (a poetic tribute to my daughter)

My Girl Jo.

Our daughter Jody

Is a charmer.

Of snakes, I mean,

They never harm her.

In Sydney town

Her present life.

All grown up now,

A mum and wife.

Skott and Logan,

Her man and boy.

Their little son,

Is her true joy.

She's very good

At what she tries,

Be it painting flowers

Or sunset skies.

She spins her yarns

And dyes them too,

In lovely, multi-coloured hues.

I love her more

Than I can say.

She makes me proud,

In every way.

A Wench's Love

A Wench's Love

by Jody Kendrick-Ward (c) 2014

A wench's love for her captain is eternal,
Its strongest when he be out at sea,
For many months and years,
She waits her love for him is as strong as can be,
As she knows a true pirate captain,
Need to be free,
To one wench he will return,
For she will make his heart burn,
And so her pirate captain he will always be.

(this poem was written by my daughter Jody for her husband on their recent wedding Anniversary. They had a pirate theme wedding)

Sweet poem for a lovely daughter. Just get a look at her not freaking out at that snake. I'd be peeing on my shoes. And you adorable grandson has the knack, too. Jeepers creepers!

Daughter-Dad duo makes a wonderful bonding. The intensity of their love and affection cannot be described in words but felt in the heart and soul. Daughters are like angels for fathers and mothers. The very presence of daughter relieves one of the nagging feelings of any kind and ignites hopes all around. I have learned it from looking at my sisters and parents. I have a sweet daughter also and this poem made me feel so elated for her ! Really a nice stuff, John.

Flourish, thank you. As a kid she even had pet spiders so I guess snakes was just a natural progression..haha. Logan has grown up with snakes in the house so he has no fear. He thinks the new hatchlings are his.

Love the poem and love the photo! I can identify absolutely with your sentiments; I have two daughters, all grown up, married, with children. They and their offspring are my delight.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and yours. Ann

Jodah,

It is hard for me to imagine you as a grandpa for you look really young in your picture. I love the tenderness in your writing and this poem is no different. I think snakes are pretty cool as well. I wish I had just a little of the talents your daughter has and does so successfully. My guess having such a creative dad contributed to that. Smiles. V+

Blessings,

Kim

This is a lovely tribute to Jody, Jodah. I love the photos, too - especially the one showing the snake wrapped around your daughter. I don't think I'd be very comfortable in that situation!

I am sure Jo will hold this poem close to her heart as long as she lives. It is so wonderful for a father to be able to express feelings for his children. I knew you were a winner and this proves it. Not enough ups here to give you but I will give you all there is. ^
