My Glory Days

The Days Gone By

I've always loved the Bruce Springsteen song Glory Days. Here is a poem I wrote as a tribute to the song but with my life in mind.

Traveled through the maze of youth
Sometimes in a daze
Never fully understanding the
Meaning of my ways
Livin’ life to the fullest
Doin’ all that I could
To soak up each moment
As I knew I should

Glory days
Wonder where they went
So much time gone
So much time youthful spent

My world felt so different
Then the one my parents knew
But now that I am older
I’ve got the same view
Glory days were over in the
Twinkling of an eye
Everything changed
The years passed by
One day your young have the world
In the palm of your hand
The next your raisin’ children
The best way you can

Glory days
Wonder where they went
So much time gone
So much time youthful spent

But glory days do live on
Through a child's eyes
When you see the world anew
As you touch their lives

Glory days
Wonder where they went
So much time gone
So much time youthful spent

We've all had our good moments followed by the bad ones. We just got to keep finding them, because its not over till it's over.

Great poem, I love what you have written here. I'm sure Bruce Springstien would agree with you.

Voted up awesome and interesting, Joyce.
