My Grandpa History

I have a history
Of my grandfather
He use to fly a jet in the 60s and 70s…
He’s a lieutenant serve the Khmer Army

My grandfather own a home in Komporng Chnang, Cambodia
And 10 acres farmland

In front of his home there is a palm tree
Where my father and him plant
As it grew
They carve their name on it
Until now I hope its still visible

Behind his home there was railroad
Across the railroad
There is a place
Where army practice their drills

He was a serious man
So big and strong

He teach his men to fly jets…
Been to France and Australia
To meet the other men…

People who knew him say
He was quite an amazing man
Believe it or not
My god grandfather was his friend

But things turn around right after war
He lost his life in the Vietnam War
But his memories live on beyond

Such a beautiful poem, your Grandfather sounded like a great man and I can tell you are really proud of what he did. So many lost there lives in that senseless war. When will we ever learn that war is not the answer.

God Bless

Thank you Vietnamvet, I would agree with your comment. I don't know how they will ever learn war is not the answer. I lost a friend who went to war in Iraq and its just sad losing a life of someone you admire or love.
