My Mom, My Blessing~A Mother's Day Poem
My Mom, My Blessing
Sent down to this earth with gentle hands
Carefully molded with the ingredients to love and understand
Throughout your beginning years you’ve had to see and learn a lot
Hard lessons but through bliss and sorrow this love you’ve been taught
Then one day your time came to start fulfilling your destiny
To take all that you have and start giving it to me
The most beautiful day came when God gave us a miracle to see
You received the gift of pride and joy and I was blessed with a mommy
Some say love at first sight is only a myth, though I know the truth
The purest love reached for us when you had me and I first found you
Always guiding me with the wisdom you’ve gained and teaching my heart to stay strong
Seeing the hurt behind my smile and mending sadness through song
You have fixed scraped knees with band aids sealed with a kiss
We enjoy sharing stories from the past of times that we miss
Making sure that I stand up for what I believe in, most importantly myself
You’ve taught me that it’s a harsh world we live in and stressed the need to maintain my own health
I have learned by watching you that I can’t give in without a fight
Mom you’re an angel who’s always here for me and you’ve done everything right
Sometimes life seems so hectic, I forget to tell you how I feel and thank you for all that you do
I hope you know with your whole heart and soul mom, how much I love you

Afterthoughts~My mom is my angel
I wrote this for my mommy/mom/mother/angel/best friend. My mom is such a blessing in my life. She raised me to be caring and strong. Through her I learned how to be a daughter, friend, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, divorced woman and a mother. My mom had a pretty tough life but always kept a smile on her face and never let anything get her down too far. She is a terrific role model for me and has been to all 6 of her kids.
It's been so wonderful growing up through all of my obstacles into a woman who is now a mommy of two, knowing that she is here for me always. I don't think there has been one day in my thirty-seven years that she hasn't told me that she loves me and made sure that I felt it. That says a lot, even for a mother, because life is always so rush rush anymore. I know that God sent me to her for many reasons but I think one of the main reasons was so that I could learn how to love unconditionally and give this gift to my children.
I can only hope to be as wonderful of a mother as she has been to me. I can only hope that my children will know and feel without a doubt that my love for them is the greatest love ever known. A mother's love.
