My Poem - Breathe

Source

Breathe...

Breathe....

I'm under water,

I hear a gentle voice say,

Breathe...

Breathe..

Drowning in the depths of my mind,

The gentle voice...

Still by my side,

Telling me to,

breathe....

Breathe...

Tears running down my face,

I feel a warm embrace...

The gentle voice saying to,

Breathe...

Breathe...

The feeling of entrapment taking over,

My life...

The gentle voice telling me to,

Breathe...

Breathe....

Surrounded by the negative,

No where to escape...

The gentle voice telling me to,

Breathe....

Breathe...

Events un-fold in my mind,

Contemplating what to do,

The gentle voice telling me to,

Breathe...

Breathe....

I'm holding my breath,

Cause I'm really upset...

The gentle voice telling me to,

Breathe...

Breathe....

Pulling at my hair,

To let the frustrations out,

The gentle voice telling me to,

Breathe...

Breathe....

I'm in a box,

With no where to run,

It's so dark,

Can't see the sun,

My face is wet,

From the tears I cried,

My mind confused,

I feel lost inside.

Trying to hard to stay a float,

Almost like a tipping boat.

Cradled in fetal position,

I start praying,

For affirmation...

Father, help me please.

I need your love,

To set me free,

I heard your Angel,

Telling me to breathe...

I need u father,

Oh... please help me.

Give me the strength,

That I will need,

For this journey,

That's ahead of me.

I promise father....

I will breathe....

As long as I have you,

Beside me....

Thank you father,

For bringing me through,

I was drowning there for a minute,

Without you.

I know now how to stay afloat,

Just by calling your name,

And praying,

Will help to keep me sane,

Thank you father,

I'm on my knees,

Thank you...

For helping me to breathe...

Hi Rena, this is a beautiful poem. I know what the drowning feeling can be like but you say it so eloquently here. Love can be madly frustrating and it can overwhelm us. You write wonderful poetry. Have a sweet day. :)

Hi! Rena

I didn't realize it until today that all of my comment didn't get on the the page. There was also a typo or error, but I think you know what I meant. What I meant to say was I'm always blown away when I read what you write. My mind is taken away in flight. You're like a hurricane, but without the destruction.

I'm always blown away when I read what you write. My mind is taken away in flight. You're like a hurricane, but with the destruction. You need to share some of this with a group on Facebook called "Love Is Written In Our World". I'm sure they would really enjoy it.

Your style of writing poetry touches the soul. It's amazing.

Now as a follower of yours and as a fellow hubber, I read all the comments that you recieved after writing "After All That We've Been Through".....

I was apalled with what was said. No one has the right to talk to anyone using that "tone" of voice.

Your work is beautiful and so many of us that read your poems day in and day out see the love, the heart and the feelings you express in your work.

Hello Lynette,

I am very honored that this poem has connected with you from your life's journey and experiences. This is why I write the way I do, because I know that I am not alone in all of my experiences. This poem is very well connected to me and I wrote it based on my struggles when I was just a teenager trying to find her path in life. I'm really happy and proud of you, for keeping your head up and wanting to live life to the fullest. "Life" surely is our biggest blessing and most of all a wonderful gift. A gift that most don't ever learn to appreciate. Thank you so much for reading and stopping by.

Romancer!

I'll be emailing you right now.

Hi Rena,

This poem touched me so deeply. Last year we had such a traumatic year that I found myself living from one crisis to the next. At the beginning of this year I chose a word to live by for 2011...that word is "breathe". I want to live in the moment and Rejoice in the Lord Always despite what my cross my path. I want to enjoy the journey of this thing we call life. Can I please post your poem on my blog...with credit and a link back to this page?

My e-mail is lynette.jacobs11@gmail.com

When in the mire of difficult times in our lives, it's very easy to forget to stand back and to take time to think clearly and to really breathe - it makes a big difference to how we see our life and how we can find a positive way forward and one which will bring renewed hope into our lives.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful reminder to breathe when we're faced by times of turmoil in our lives. Appreciate it.

Interesting use of the repeated 'breathe, breathe' in this poem.

Yeah my life hasn't been pretty either. Somehow I've come out fighting though. Where the strength comes from I don't know. But I have dreams and I'm so close to fulfilling at least one of them, I'm not giving up now. My Grandad gave me a teddy that has always brought me luck, if I'm rushed into hospital, the teddy comes too. Nurses and Doctors think it's weird that a 28yr old has a teddy, but I need him. I believe he has brought me through a lot of my worst times, and now with my Grandad watching over me I feel even safer.

I don't believe God has brought me through anything, I believe I have been extremely fortunate and blessed to have been given so many second chances. And I don't take my life for granted.

@ Georgie98, I hear you sweetie. I've been down many roads in my lifetime, and that has been one of them. I too had countless brushes with death, and two successful deaths. I'm grateful to God for allowing me to finish my life here. I come from a very hard life, very dark life, but that's all in my past. These days I'm happy with my life, I'm happy to be me and I love my life. I thank God so much because he never left me alone through my struggles. He was always there and he continues to be there. I pray a lot because I have so much to be thankful for. I write poetry of present and past emotions or of other's around me. I know Georgie98 what it's like... to live a life with challenges. I wish you the best on your journey! Good-luck.

This is really beatiful, I have almost drowned several times, attempted suicide and not come out of epileptic seizures. So I have had countless brushes with death, but I still stand tall! :)

Thank you so much Mystique for such a wonderful compliment. Your words are very touching indeed and very indepth. You connected to this poem really well and hit the nail on the head. It most definitely is about a person who is despair, and lost. She's fighting the fight to bring herself through some of her hardships and asks the lord to help her, after she figures out that she most definitely cannot do it alone. She knows can get through it all just with prayer and guidance.

I'm very happy that you liked this poem. Thanks for stopping by =-) I look forward to hubbing with you.

Good-luck! Happy Hubbing.

@ Acid Rahne - Sorry for my misspelling of a word. I meant to write "Threw" it together not "Through" it together haha.

My dearest one...

Quite beautiful indeed! A mirror of peace, a song in the breeze, fighting the wraiths with solid faith. Knowing deep inside,The Master Weaver´s heart is where you should abide. We have all been made not to be ever afraid...

Nice flow albeit its struggling feelings and despair. Smooth transition! Rated up and Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Warmest hugs and infinite heavenly blessings,

Al

@ Acid Rahne - Thank you so much =-) I'm honored in so many ways that you like my poem. This poem doesn't have any structure at all, I just through it together and created my own structure. =-) I'm really not a critic of poetry myself. I just like for it to be relative to myself and others =-) Thank you so much for reading! Come back for more he he =-))

By the way... I think you made a great choice for purchasing a great and inexpensive book. Let me know what you think about it when your finished with it. Thank you very much! Have a great day =-)

Toodles *Smile*

I enjoyed this very much. I am not a very good critic of poetry, in that I don't know much about formal structures, et al. (I'm more of a philosophy student.) But this has a way of summing up a feeling that I think everyone has had once or twice in their lives.

I could imagine you writing lyrics.

Beautiful piece, thank you for sharing!
