My Truest Friends.

My Truest Friends.

Birth      Love       Old Age

When birth came,
like an new friend,
I was stubborn,
enjoying my
solitary existence
in the warmth

of the womb.

But birth gently pushed me
through vaginal spasms,
into the embrace of life
There I greeted its
mysterious gift
at first with wails
but then I gazed
with eyes of wonder,
at my newest companion,
My mother.

When love came,
with a old friendship

touching me

I was unsure.
But it held

many allures,
that would banish
my Nemesis of loneliness,
with blessings to sweet
to pass up.
Warm, wet lips,
gentle fingertips,
and hours

of conversing
with life's finest offering.....
My girl.

When age comes,
as my oldest friend,
I will snuggle down
in the wrinkled P.J.s
of my skin,
with a toothless grin,
and rest my weary bones.
With all obligations fulfilled,
I will reminisce on
the lifelong bliss
of the many friendships
I have known.
Sharing a fine repast
with my latest
timeworn associate,
as I wait for
one final friend....
My death.

When death comes,
my most faithful
friend of all,
who always waited
just around the corner,
till I was ready for
its benevolence.
I may welcome him
at long last,
with shaking hands
and eyes wide.
To draw me back into
a fetal, futile position
and nudge me gently
into a tunnel
of darkness,
that leads to
the light
of my rebirth,
in paradise.
Leaving me there

forever to share

with my greatest

friend of all...

My creator.
