My heart fell a million miles (a Valentine's poem)
Have you ever done that?
Given your heart away, I mean?
I gave my heart away today
To someone I knew well
He looked at me his special way
And then he broke the spell
Tis nice you care for me that way
But I’ve someone else in mind
No, don’t go, you can stay
Things might change in time
I wondered what he meant by that
Was he saying he could care
Don’t worry, love, he said right back
Get between, she wouldn’t dare
Are you saying you would like us both
I asked in shocked despair
Of course, he said, who else could boast
Of two loves to hold so dear
My heart fell down a million miles
I lost all sense of time and place
I’d fallen for all his melting smiles
But love for me, he had not a trace
I’ll suffer from a broken heart
For Valentine’s Day this year
Perhaps I can work towards a new start
Like a cute stuffed Teddy Bear
At least he won't ask me to share!
