My Unquenchable Desire - Poem

Source

Oh how I long for you.

Each day I ache for your presence.

Each night is absolute agony without you.

Patiently I wait, knowing that soon I will be lost in your presence.

I am empty without you; my mind is dull and my heart aches.

I wonder aimlessly, melancholy is my only companion.

Anticipation grows each day as I look forward to your arrival.

Each night, my desire is heightened with the thought of your embrace,

But I am left, once again, hungering ever more.

I search for you, but you are not to be found.

This agony is unbearable.

I watch the hands of time slipping past a moonlit face, and I am left in unfulfilled desire.

Oh come to me!

Please don’t leave me in this wretched state.

I need to lie in your arms, to hear your soft lullaby.

Quench this mounting thirst for an uninterrupted liaison,

Oh Sleep Devine.

Unquenchable Desire is somewhat like a dream. For you cannot have but you may dream.
