Nelson Mandela's smile .....

images by google

They tried to silence the voice of the
freest man on earth

By using the cage ....the sticks .....the stones
what price was it worth

There are men who will forever remain
humble ...gentle ....kind

No matter who or how they try to break
his mind

You make all men learn to fight on
to crawl the extra mile

When they tore your flesh and twisted
your mind .....you beat them with this smile

Nelson .....they can never win .....those
who hide behind the ivory walls

As long as the human spirit holds
the cards freedom makes the calls

And now you lie quietly in a darkened room
and wait for a sign from another land

As God holds your hand in his and says it best
in this bed lies the best of man

He is a great man and has been through so much difficulty in his life. I, too, just love that smile.

Ed,

You really surprised me with this one, yet I'm impressed as always. This is an extremely beautiful tribute to a man wise beyond his years. Poignant and powerful! This is getting pinned to my heroes board!

Thank you for being such a lovely, lovely huMan!

Truly awesome! Many a man has spent longer time in prison, but few have returned unbroken with such dignity, respect, honor, love for mankind, and victory. With careful words, you painted it so well—the smile.

Thank you for writing this tribute to Nelson Mandela. What a life he lived and what changes were eventually brought to South Africa, largely through his efforts. Excellent. Sharing. Theresa

I am South African and was delighted when Nelson Mandela was freed from prison though over the years so much has changed and led me to move away from such a beautiful country. An interesting thought here

I hope you don't mind... I tweeted this to Prez Obama. I am comparing Mandela to Leonard Peltier and asking Obama to release him.

This is such a beautiful tribute to Mandela. Thank you for writing it.
