Have You Ever Had A Creepy Dream...That Keeps Re-Visiting You In Your Sleep ?

ΖZZZ....ZZZZZ....ΖZZZ....ZZZZZ....ΖZZZ....ZZZZZ....ΖZZZ....ZZZZZ....ΖZZZ....ZZZZZ....

I looked ahead...but did not see...

A Door before me opened...right there...in front of me.

A Haunting display of still photos...then revealed through time...

Many a Picture to Avoid...Eerie...though strangely sublime.

Fear gripped me for a while...as I had predicted...

I stared out...though helpless...as in horror...I was addicted.

An Abstract Thought from a Nightmare long ago...I once had...

A horrible place to go and re-live...a terrible thing that was so very bad.

Scared...I had not known the meaning...until now...

Gone...I thought you had left me...and now your back here...How ?

When I went looking for trouble...I found it staring me in the face...

When I went to run...I found...I could not escape this place.

I stood to fight...to be a Man...

But...I could not win...I do not know why...or do I understand.

Because...the Nightmare was...Oh, so real...

And I...I really don't know how I feel.

And yet again...my Nightmare found me...though I tried hard to avoid...

Yet...now confronted by its' very presence...I must view that which I've least enjoyed.

I knew I must be again dreaming...but it was hard to feel...

Looking around...the Nightmare was...Oh, so real.

Everything here was set in place...to the most mi'nute detail...

I stood to fight...but all I did was fail.

I paid a heavy price...My Nightmare had come true...

There was nothing I could change for now...Nothing...I could say or do.

Welcome...to my own worst Nightmare...Sorry...you had to come along...

I'd tell you that it will all work out...but then...I might be wrong !

I was going along...At ease...and in quiet rest...

Now...managing Life's curveballs...struggling...at best.

I will give the moment...its' expected diligence...though I don't know how I'll get through...

Until I awaken from this Nightmare and come back once more...I'm alone....there is nothing anyone can do !

For it was a Nightmare of Abstracting thought...which truly drove me to be insane !

The screams I had were internal...the thoughts...though quiet...caused me great pain.

It was a strange and intoxicating brood...

That held me deep within this mood.

It was full of wretched things that climbed inside my head...

It peered up at me from the edges of my bed.

It had me within the clutches of a sleepy, creepy dream...

Too asleep to run...Too afraid to scream !

Bound here only by blankets and sheets...

At the edge of a Vision...where time and space meets.

My choice of weapon was the pillow at my side...

My imagination took me so far away...my sub-conscious beared all I try to hide.

It was a Nightmare of Abstracting Thought...

And I alone must face my horrors...the awful thoughts...I never sought.

With sweat and panic...I journeyed into a realm...that only the brain controls...

It is there where I faced my worst of fears...the brain controls our very souls.

I was struck by limitations...and forced to view this theatrical drama reprise...

Though my thoughts of my own betrayed me...and sought ways for my demise.

It was the Nightmare of Abstracting Thought...and I feel this things' sharp images calling...

Till I must face them once more...when I must sleep again...I find my limited choices apalling.

They will come and surround me...the things in my mind...will have their say...in slumber horrific stories...

But I must survive the night...or be siezed by fear where heart weakened ends...and finds no more awakened nightmare glories.

A Dream within a Dream

by: Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849)

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow—
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream:
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand—
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep
While I weep—while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
