Not So Far Apart

Love is like a master ship builder

sitting alone

sipping sweet coconut milk

on a deserted beach.

Our hearts like two small vessels

run aground in a sea of passion.

Our timbers rotting, paint peeling,

fittings rusted, broken masts,

two silent sentinels devastated.

While love is on holiday

I will pray the coming storms

drift us

not so far apart.
