Nothing Grander Than Love

Feeling lonely and sad

There was nothing to be done

She was feeling alone

One day melting into another

In her heart she carried

The torch for the man

That she once had loved

So many years ago

They were sweethearts

All through college

Loving one another

No worries about tomorrow

One evening had become like another

Either out with the boys

Or on a date

Nothing seemed to interest him

And then she stepped into his daydreams

And he remembered the good times they had had

Carefree college days

Fun and laughter

Between the hard work

Together they had made

Their world into a fantasy

Long before graduation

His money had run out

Jobs far and few between

Like a coward

He’d left leaving a letter with a few regrets

It was one of those starry nights

When she thought the most about him

How angry she’d been

Tearing up the letter

Which had broken her heart

Had smashed all of her dreams

She often wondered where he had gone

Often longed to find him

But never had the courage

Finally he decided

To just lose himself

Somewhere in a big city crowd

And so he left his home by the sea

Heading for the neon lights of New York City

There perhaps he wouldn’t feel so lonely

There he could lose himself

In a sea of faces

He wondered how long his money would hold out

Before he landed a job and found an apartment

New York and all the neon fascinated him

Living in the whirlwind world of modeling

She was glad to lose herself in the social whirl

There were no obligations

To have a serious romance

So much work and competition

She was glad to be out and about

New York was just what he had needed

And the modeling world found another photographer

First shoot, first time

In Central Park as the spring

Sprang into bloom

He set up and was ready

Then the model stepped into view

He’d recognize that face, those eyes in a minute

And he lost his breath

Never had he expected

Her to step back into his life

Not so soon, not like this

She had no idea he was there

But somehow her heart beat so quickly

There was something different

To the feel in the air that day

The shoot took over an hour

And when they were done

She stood there

So very beautiful

Her auburn hair shining in the sun

He couldn’t take his gaze off of her

And then their eyes met

It was a moment that he would never have dreamed of

Never in his wildest dreams

All on their own

The distance between them seemed to close

They didn’t care who was around

And then they were standing

Face to face

And all of the years just faded away

If one recognized love

Then this was true and deep love

They kissed long and passionately

As the spring sun shone down on them

And the cherry trees bloomed all around

If it had been nighttime one might have seen fireworks exploding

A meeting with such passion

That could never be imagined

Never even in one’s wildest dreams

The twisting turning path of love. Your imagery was clear and made the whole scene come alive. I liked the happy ending :)

If I had just read the title I would have been in complete agreement with is the most important thing in life...and then a lovely poem was the icing on the cake. Well done Rasma!

First, The Moody Blues is one of my all-time favorites. Smiles.

Second, I so love a happy ending.

Finally, I love the line, "And then she stepped into his daydreams..."

Wishing you a wonderful day,
