Now You Know The Difference

Source

There’s a difference between being alone
And being disappointed
You drew conflict near and pushed peace away
Now you want disappointment
You don’t want loneliness to stay

I never could measure up to your vision
Even though you said I do
It was always about a painting
But even Norman Rockwell
Doesn’t have the right colors for you

So now I’m gone
And empty rooms don’t talk
But memories whisper
Louder than how we fought
You stayed
And now you wait
I can forgive
But for love it’s too late

You told me to grow up
But that’s not enough
I can’t be what time forgot
Once I was love
Now you have to decide why I’m not

There’s a difference between who you are
And who you want me to be
You tried to make me the same
Though you once loved how I was different
Now we wake up thinking about the blame

So now I’m gone
And empty rooms don’t talk
But memories whisper
Louder than how we fought
You stayed
And now you wait
I can forgive
But for love it’s too late

Little things truly make a difference. I like this phrase -

"There’s a difference between who you are, And who you want me to be, You tried to make me the same, Though you once loved how I was different, Now we wake up thinking about the blame"

The difference is the uniqueness of everyone which has become the challenge. Very nice poem thank you. Now we know the difference. I'm sharing! :=)-Tonette
