Ode to Darkness
Ah my friend I miss you so, tho every morning watch you go.
Eyes darting ‘round the room, our anxious rendezvous within my tomb,
yet to the corners you so cling, a shy, beautiful, indomitable thing.
You are my shade against the rays that blister the ground and mark our days,
ancient breath laid unto the earth, whence creatures emerge as if by birth.
Original muse pure emotion,
pave the way with insight, notions.
Oh, soothing wraithlike confidante,
of mortal woe, wail and want.
Eternal your shoulder on which to cry,
our peaceful place most wish to die.
Many a feast held in your presence, love confessed, bodies scented.
Often as you grace a room, life begins inside a womb.
Your simple visage can make one weep, grind their teeth, give up deceit.
Tis said your brother, whom makes all clear, when rides his chariot, through the air.
Not so! For whence comes the heart? Loved one stay acquaintance depart.
When are we most truly naked, under skies blue and painted?
Nay, truth it shall reside with peace, as colors blend and shadows creep
love, clarity, life, eternity all these things wrought with certainty,
as under stars loosed are we, to your truth it rings,
wild, free.
