It Takes a Village to Raise Children

This poem is my tribute and thank you to Mary and Dick for all the love they gave us as children. Lisa, Mary's daughter, was my best friend- her loving parents helped raise us. It's so true that it takes a village. My dad was a widower with five young children, and having neighbors like them, treating us as their own, was monumental. Mary and Dick, who we call Mom and Dick, will always be our second set of parents. I have so much gratitude and love for them and tell them every chance I get. I hope they will always know we are the women we have become because of their love and nurturing in our childhood days.

Ode to Mom and Dick

You were always there for us when twinners needed you,

Your our special adopted mom & dad and dad Dick threw our shoe

Isn't it funny how life tends to go,

when our kids are naughty, now their shoes we throw

We always knew you both had our backs

Whether our day was bright or our world was black

You helped us to get through good days and pain

You loved us through struggles it was never in vain

You mean more to us than you'll ever know

You showed us Christs' love and helped us to grow

Through fires, houseboat, Dougal's and more

our memories stay with us, especially of Lore.

Love Linda and Laura-Your adopted daughter's

Hi justom-Yah, this was my best buddies mother and new husband (my buddy's step-dad). We recently saw them when they were in town and gave them this poem. They were soo cute and had tears in their eyes. They just sent me a letter today and said they have the poem framed and sitting in the livingroom. Too sweet:) I think it's important to thank people that showed us love and comfort when we were kids. Thank you so much for visiting me today.
