Of Men and Rain .............verse

Just what almighty purpose is served
to stand and watch silently the falling rains
the drumming on the tin roof the rivulets channeling
emotions without refrains

Incessantly it roars in sounds of rivers down
the gutters and out to the streams
even in the night it spells us
in silent dreams

I can work no longer but drop my tools
and stand at the barn doors
to hell with the work to hell with the phone
let the rain consume the chores

I do it now as my father did before me
in silence no need for voice
is it something in the sky that beckons
some purpose some choice

Yes I believe it's God saying stop......
look........ and listen for the sky
"I control all your destiny and not man "
if you should wonder why

Let this rain wash over you let it
cleanse let it absolve and renew
for rains allow a new beginning
a fresh start for all that we do

This is lovely. I enjoyed your choice of words to describe how it makes you feel, and how you remind us to just stop and enjoy the moment. The sacred has a way of revealing itself in sometimes, the simplest of ways; a reminder of how small we are in this universe. It's a very humbling feeling.

I love the sound of rain on a tin roof - in fact sometimes when it rains on the tiles I can hardly hear it, so I go into the garage to really enjoy it! A lovely poem.
