Oh Book of Face
Need Facebook help?
Book of Face, how you have captured me
How you have sucked me in with your profiles, friends, messages, and games
I toil each day on my fantasy farm and fight virtual vampires all night
My mind never rests, my need to read each post never quenched.
Oh Book of Face, I must know how many “like” what I share with “friends” both near and far, both known and unknown.
I must continue to update my status and tag photos for the entire world to see.
I live to comment, like, share and follow people and things of which I have no knowledge.
Please – please set me free, Book of Face
Let me return to my flesh and blood family, let me sleep as normal humans do
Let me work at my job to earn real money, as my family cannot live off of my abundant digital crops. They cannot survive on the fish in my aquarium. They hunger mightily.
They long for human touch, no longer appreciating the hugs app I have downloaded.
Being in my friends circle no longer holds meaning for them.
They desire more than just the blessings of daily posts, they demand my full attention.
And so, Book of Face, I bid you farewell. Your enticements hold sway over me no longer.
I am returning to the land of the living, breathing, heart beating human race from which you took me from so long ago.
Good bye my 1,862 friends. I shall miss you, but I will not regret our time here together.
I have posted my last; I will update no more, my profile picture you will no longer see.
