I Hate You Winter - Original Sad Poem

Winter! Oh I loved you

You have always been the best of all;

The seasons I encountered and witnessed

The driest of all, but I still loved you.

But look what you gave me

Of now which I complain

You left me to go nowhere

Nowhere – but to suffer pain.

When I was an infant, I shivered and cried

When I was a toddler, I made an igloo.

When I became a teen, I cherished you still

When I became a man, I accepted that I loved you

You have always been important to me

But one evening of yours made you special

It was a winter eve, when I first saw her

Wrapped into a shawl; a scarf around her.

With her glistening eyes, she looked up

Hugged in her arms, as she tried to fight you

When I saw you teasing her

That was the moment that I first started to hate you

But everything changed for a while

It was winter when we were together

When we hugged, kissed, looked at each other,

With love, care and affection;

A breezy morning of 7th December

Yes it was winter!

Though the change was temporary; as her love was.

The winter became terrible;

And chaotic and disrespectful and canny

As my worst nightmare was!

O! I remember; it was winter and utter cold

When that stillness came over me

And kept gaining on me; gaining on me

O! I remember; it was winter when she went away

When she lied, back-stabbed, and murdered me;

It was winter, when she walked away.

I remember as how she left me.

I can no more remember anything good

Everything died along with me

O Winter! Once I used to love you so much

Now I hate you for all that you gave me.

It is winter now; I can feel the shivers and cold

I can feel her glistening eyes looking on

Looking on to me with a touch of pain

I am pale, white and untouchable with no hint of tan

It has become a cliché, but I hate you winter!

For once you were so beautiful, though now I hate you winter!

Never come back to further sink me into the darkness

As I want to forget her; I want to forget you too.

But whatever I say, I will miss you winter, like I miss her too!

O my dear Winter! Once a lovely Winter!

I liked your poem, Hunbbel, even though you sound very unhappy. But I liked the pic. In my mind there may be not many things as satisfying as a kiss in the cold, when both noses are cold, but the kiss can so warm one.

It has been too long since I have experienced such a satisfying kiss.

Thank you for the memory.

A lovely poem, a pity you associate badtimes with a previously happy season- I hope that happy things happen this winter and you start to look forward to winter

A very intense poem. Sad that a lost love has also lost you the love of the season.

We eventually related things to the surrounding circumstances; this is what happened to winter - a beautiful season otherwise - in this poem.

Winter is the season for the cold, and the death of all that's warm, and inviting; a green trail, a field to lay in, or loves heated embrace. Cheers.

My friend I felt your pain, your loss and your anger at both your loss and the time of season it hurt you so. I to have had this pain, intensely. I was stabbed, I was bled, I was tossed to the wolves by someone I so loved, adored and would have died for.

I have not looked at another woman quite in the same way. Am I tainted maybe so? It's my past now, yet I still feel the dagger in my back, the scars are deep and still visible in my soul. Thank you for writing such a sorrowful piece, I saw the imagery, I felt each word. Blessings to you my gifted poetic friend. I am happy to inspire you with my humble writings.

Your winter memories are quite similar to mine. I loved the way you personalize the season with your emotions. Nice work.

Hunbbel,

Hopefully, you'll take a bit of time to thaw out, then shine up your snow shoes, and dive back into the drift.

Winter has it's beautiful points and not so beautiful points - kinda like love affairs, lol.

Sorry you had such a heart break. It for sure showed up in the poem. And, wishing you much brighter days ahead, with a whole lot less chill! :)

Wonderful poetry, here.

l loved the comparisons you made with hating love lost, with hating Winter.

It worked so well. Beautiful .

Beautiful and heartwrenching.

When we have someone to love, it keeps our heart warm from winter's bitter cold.

Voted up, up and away!

I have missed seeing you around, and reading your wonderful writings, but you did not fail me. What a sadness to have felt such betrayal, made all the colder and more deadly by the season and all it represents. But very well written indeed.

Heart-touching poem. Some-time some people are memory really make our dearest thing worst. But one must not be worried as it is life. With the passage of time everything changes. One must be like a river. And your attitude shows that you are.

Great poem.
