Oh joy, complete me - a poem
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
Oh joy, complete me.
Take this weary soul
and remind it where it has been,
what it has seen.
Beauty lingers like the sweet scent of a rose,
dew-kissed and opened,
its velvet arms yearning for light.
Remind me of the nectar of life,
the intoxicating breathe of wonder,
in all its purity and majesty.
How have I forgotten
this miracle of life,
this impossible beauty,
to have betrayed it for so little.
Help me to rejuvenate,
to reclaim my naivety,
my open eyes to see.
Give me cause to relinquish pain,
to retell a story with an ending
that smiles from gratitude.
Help me to find that smile,
that simple pleasure forgotten
and numb my memories of strife,
my inadequacies in life.
Oh joy, reinstate me,
welcome me home.
